This is a nice little FREE utility you can try. Install Microsoft "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us
If you find '(the PROGRAM NAME)' listed just hit the delete button.
Then do the uninstall.

Norton has an uninstall program that you find on line called "Symantec removal utility" download this and run it. DO NOT use the uninstall program that came with your Norton program.

Then:

Shut down completely for at least 30 seconds, then restart.
Then do a search for 'all files and folders' - 'PROGRAM NAME' with the options "Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders" checked. Delete all of those found.

You should do this search and delete whenever you uninstall any programs. It will remove lots and lots of leftover junk files taking up room on your hard drive. It will also give you a "clean install" when you reinstall or install an updated program. Do this ESPECIALLY when updating to a NEW anti-virus programs and “Internet Security Suite” programs such as McAfee or Norton etc.

Download and install "Registry Mechanic" then do the updates prior to running it and removing anything for the first time. This will get rid of all your current Registry errors, prior to installing or reinstalling 'PROGRAM NAME'.

Tying to install kaspersky anti virus programme.its coming up to remove norton anti virus which ive removed all norton programmes but its still saying remove norton virurs

If you did a reboot then it should be gone however; Norton is notorious for not removing all of its little registry stragglers after uninstall. They have a program that will go in and grab the remnants.

I have acer laptop, i tried to uninstall Norton 360 2010 last night, mu computer crashed and i can't get any further on than the password stage without my computer crashing.

You can boot into Safe Mode then restore from a save point prior to the Norton uninstall.
That's as far as I've got - even using the Norton Removal Tool gives me the same issue, so still haven't been able to get rid of Norton And have a stable laptop.

Yesterday intalled norton and today I Tried to install microsof works and tmy computer dont reconiced the driver

This is one of the main problems with Norton...believe it or not, go to the Norton site and download their Norton removal tool. Remove Norton, go to the device manager in the control panel and uninstall the device that is having the problem. Shut the computer down and reboot. When the computer reboots, make sure you have an internet connection and when windows starts it will recognize the hardware connected to the system and attempt to load drivers for it, it may even ask you if it can search windows update for the latest driver, choose yes and let windows install the device. Try to install your MS works again.

Remove this Antivirus and put a new Antivirus like for example "ESET NOD32" much safer and no hassle.
