Hi, how long can I leave my deep freezer unplugged? Is six months too long? I heard they won't work if left unplugged for too long. Thanks! Jan

Probably bad thermostat- jump it out and see if it starts. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

The freezer works but not the refigerator

Hi Jan - Typically if the compressor is running but only the freezer side is not cooling properly than more than likely the unit has a faulty temperature control. Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and then turn the unit back on. An experienced service technician may need to further evaluate this issue if it was not resolved with the power reset to assist with the repairs.

Frigidaire refrigerator compressor overheated when I left the door opne.

the motor of the compressor may have tripped on overload protection. Allow it to cool down and then unplug the fridge then plug it back in and try to run it. It should run. Be advised that the condenser coils underneath need to be clean. You should have a strong person tilt the empty fridge while you vacuum and clean all the dust and lint off the coils. Be gentle as these coils are fragile and are easily damaged. Hope this helps.

I have a deep freezer, the light is on but doesn't freeze. It's only 2 yrs old what could be the problem?I unpluged it and waited 10 mins pluged back in and nothing the red light stayed on but...

Well a freezer is easy to repair. The circuit goes from one side of the power cord to the cold control and down to the compressor then out to the other side of the power cord. Id the control or compressor relay is open then she won't freeze. All the parts to it are listed HERE.
From the list I see an overload for the compressor. If that one is open it won't freeze. Bypass the temp control wires to see if she runs.

Outside of chest freezer gets hot

it is normal for outside to get hot. that is where the condensor coils are located. if unit is working don't worry.

DEEPFREEZER

The best you can do is ensure that the compressor area and fins are not clogged by dust and such. But don't mess around long, call a repair man to fix your freezer if cleaning doesn't help. Prob cheaper than replacing your spoiled food.
