My screen seems to get dim at times. brighter in the center and fades to the outer edges. example the bottom bar where start menue , time and other programs are faint. Used to be brighter so I could look at it in a glance. Now I have to look hard to tell the time.

Behind it at the bottom of the screen are a row of screws that secure the screen with frame to the cabinet.
the entire unit pulls out (bottom right and left first) and when free lifts up to pull off.
With the entire frame and screens off--you have to take the inner screens out first---careful to note which is facing forward and upwards---you can put them in backwards or upside down--will not work right.
Most of the Hitachi's the two inner screens are taped together along the edges but if not you have to be real CAREFUL- THE thin outer one is easily shattered or damaged.
You may have to take the frame apart to get the other (outer one) out as it is usually in a slot or track.
Screens have to go back in at exactly same direction and position as when you started.
The inner ones usually are held in place with strips of plastic or metal secured with screws--careful not to strip the holes out with a screw gun.
Clear one is (outer) only protective but does have an anti-glare coating so that can be an issue--picture will be brighter.

on bottom pulley there is a mark on the outer edge. line this up with the peg in the lower plastic cover. on both top cam gear pulleys, there are punch indentations on them. get a straight edge like a mettle rule. place it through the bolts central and line the two cam pulleys to the outer making sure the rule is in line with the indents and the bolt centers. fit belt then recheck. DO NOT START ENGINE YET.remove all spark plugs. turn engine over by hand with a bar and socket to bottom pulley. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO TURN OVER BY STARTER MOTOR. as this will bend most of your valves. if the engine turns over one complete revolution. then refit all the spark plugs and start engine.
