Question about Dell UltraSharp 1905FP LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Dell lcd monitor, turns on but only stays on for about 30sec

The colors look a bit dim as it warms up, then after warm, it shuts off. I power back up only to see the screen for 15-30sec and then it shuts off.

Is it worth fixing? How do I test or get parts? cost?

Glad for any suggestions to find specific issue.

The problem is your backlight lamp is bad. Your description is of very classic symptoms for the backlight. You can either replace the LCD assembly or monitor or try replacing the backlight bulb itself. You'd have to call around to some repair shops to see what they'd charge to see if it is worth it to you to fix it or replace it. Here is a link to a site online that shows the bulbs and how to replace them if you want.

Screen on my Dell E172FP monitor suddenly turned a pinkish shade. The startup screen appears normal, as does the main menu for positioning, image and color settings. What did I do wrong?

Did you check all the pins on the VGA cable, the connectors are on tightly?
Does it do the same with another PC?
It stays on and gets normal color after warm up?
Please post back what you find. This is really old monitor.

My ViewSonic VX924 flashes the green power light off and on when I try to turn it back on after it has been off for a while. I can get it to work again by disconnecting the power in the back then...

I had several monitors do this. They start blinking on and off for a while until they warm up. It takes longer and longer for them to warm up, then eventually they never stay on and blink forever. In my experience, it has been the capacitors on the power circuit. You can fix it with a little soldering and about $1 worth of capacitors. For photos and a guide, look here: Fix an LCD Monitor

Sounds like your inverter or your backlight is failing. The inverter is an easy repair, the backlight can be replaced but it involves taking the LCD panel apart, The backlight comes installed on new screens. I can include a service manual below and possibly a generic guide to backlight replacement....

Hp flat panel monitor comes on shows logon and then blank screen

Ok, another words, monitor powers up for few seconds and shuts down by itself. If green LED on the front panel turns off as well or stays on?
If stays on, then inverter turns into protection mode because of old backlight lamps.
If it turns off in same time with an image on the screen, then there are some bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.

Mag innovision LT716s monitor

When I turn on my computer the monitor takes a long time to warm up and colors change and vertical lines flash across the screen from right to left before the screen becomes normal again. Now the power light even goes out upon turning on my computer and I have to unplug the video cord and plug it back in to start the screen back up which even takes longer.

Dell C400 will not boot using LCD screen when cold

I have seen this problem before, after booting to the external monitor go into the display settings and try setting the resolution to 1024 X 768 and the color settng to 16 bit or preferably 32 bit. If you can do this, then shut down the laptop remove the external monitor and try booting on the LCD display. BPCS

Monitor stays dim

Chances are it's not the actual CFL back-light bulbs themselves, but the back-light inverter board. If it was the bulbs you would have not had the "warm up and it get bright" issue. The board IS replaceable, (as well as the bulbs) ViewSonic charges about $36.00 USD for the board when they have them in stock. (out of stock as of yesterday 11/14/2006) It should be covered under warranty if you got longer than one year. (I know the warranty was only one year on MY VA800 but I have seen longer offered since i got mine) Good Luck I hope this helps! El Duderino
