Re: Subwoofers

Hello, I have another suggestion: if it's a ' whisteling noise' coming from the sub woofer,it could also be air coming from a part of the subwoofer enclosure it's not meant to,check to see if a part of the enclosure has a crack,>or< where the glue has cracked away,( a port is a good starting point: also check : if the port is glued in,check to make sure the glue in the port hasn't broken away)also check if the subwoofer faces out, where you can see it,check to see that it still has all the screws attatched, whisteling can happen >if< a screw,or screws have fallen out,or have come loose. I hope I can be of assistance.

Re: Subwoofers

Do you mean that when your sub woofers are working, there is a whistling type sound coming out of your ported box? is this sound coming out of the port? If it is, this simply means that the port was not properly made, and is actually acting as a whistle. If the port is a removeable plastic one, check to see if it has the flared end (like a trumpet or trombone) on the internal end of the port (inside the box) if it doesnt, go to your local stereo shop and see if they can get you ones that have flares. Sharp edges anywhere in an opening that air passes through will act like a whistle. Annoying isnt it?

Hi...I have a Onkyo CS-V720S ...I would like add at these sistem ACTIVE SUBWOOFER, CENTER AND SURROUND SPEAKERS...what model of speakers do you recommend?...........thanks

Whatever additional speakers you decide on they all have to be self-amplified.

If you want opinions you could search the web for some actual user reviews. I don't know how many of the 'experts' have any experience with that end of the line. I read a few but never found anyone who actually decided to expand on the basic unit's stereo-only capabilities.

Maybe check out Amazon for what "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought".

Ok i just got the sub from a sony sswg450 i want to know is there some way to hook it up to my Pioneer home Receiver

Did you get a manual with it? According to the Sony site this speaker originates in Sony MHC-GX450.

"This product bundle includes the following models:
RM-SC3 - REMOTE CONTROL for Shelf Mini Systems

Find the manual here and learn a bit about your seprated sub...

See page 7.

As can be seen, the subwoofer has two connections to the mothership, very unlike the standard speaker level (+/-) speaker wire or RCA-Line-Level subwoofer out that 'normal passive or active subwoofers use, respectively.

Not knowing which of those your unspecified Pioneer receiver supports, it is impossible to say. Does your Pioneer have that control jack?

Mini-systems are generally not designed to be pieced out and used with grown-up gear. The absence of standardized connections is the clue.

My stereo won't work. Whenever I try to turn it on, it always turns off saying "protect." How can I fix this?

The protect has come on because it senses an output load problem, Turn the unit off, unhook the speakers and wires from the stereo, now turn the unit on and turn the volume down as far as it will go, this should reset the processor ic, if the word protect stays off you have a short in the wiring or bad speaker. If the protect comes back on with everything unhooked the problem is in the audio output ic pack in the stereo and will require a technician to remedy.

My XL-MP130 stereo makes a racket...

What your machine is doing is... whenever the unit is powered on or off the cd player resets itself and the clanking you hear is the cd changer resetting itself.  The plastic trays of the cd player are driven by plastic gears.  These gears are noisy when new, after a few years, they can make quite a clanking noise.  Most cd changers of this age have similar mechanisms and this type of noise is inherent in their operation.      I'm afraid the only solution is to replace the unit.  Opening the unit to lubricate the gears may cause more problems than it may solve, so I would not recommend it.

Stereo makes a grinding/buzzing sound when turned on

I am afraid you have a bad power supply capacitor inside this unit. if you do not know how to check the capacitors, you will need to take the unit into a repair shop. Depending on how expensive this unit is, will determine if it is at all worth repairing. Good Luck
