My remote is broken and I have ordered another, but my question in the meantime is how to manipulate the surround sound without a working remote? I can't see any buttons on the main console to help with this.
I am dying without surround sound for football games!!!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello sasharp2. My name is Michael Hurst with DISH Network. I see that your remote was dropped and not working anymore. There isn't a way to fix the remote. The best thing to do would be is to order a new remote and replace the broken one.
If there are no codes in the manual then you may have two options left for you. You may order a 20 or 21 remote from Dish after verifying it will work with your system with customer service or you may get an ALL IN ONE REMOTE. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if you need further assistance.
Hey I have a DVR50 which appears to have given up the ghost. Its probably beyond economical repair but I'm gonna try the service centre later today. If you have any trouble getting a new remote I'll gladly send you mine if I have to scrap the DVR50. I'd rather someone get something out of it. Just pay the postage and thats fine. email@example.com
Get a digital camera or mobile phone with the camera and the remote, watch trough the camera the remote( aim the remote to the camera like its the sub) and start pushing buttons on the remote. If the remote is OK you'll see flashing light of its IR led on your camera display. If there is no light the remote is broken
try going to the retailer or to brand name website and looking for a replacement. You could try looking on Ebay for a broken one that has a remote and ordering for the remote and keeping the rest for spare parts. getting just the remote can be very difficult.
Hey try unplugging your television and taking the batteries out of the remote control.. Wait about 5 minutes and try it then! Did that help? If not, your remote control code be broken or it could be your television, but most likely the remote, so I would recommend purchasing a new replacement remote control from a site like http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com instead of buying a universal remote control that you'll have to spend hours trying to program to work with your tv, instead the replacement remote will be an exact replacement for that broken remote control. Hope that helps!
