Question about Toshiba Satellite R15-829 Tablet PC

Open Question

How do you remove HDD from its location?

I bought this computer some three years ago. It was running ok until yesterday, when I realized that it felt too hot around the HDD location and I noticed that I hadn´t heard the fan kicking in.
I turned the power off, removed the battery and the DVD Multirecorder from their bays, opened the memory and the HDD cover, and let the equipment rest until it cooled down to room temperature (73 to 75 ºF).
I replaced covers, battery and DVD recorder, energized the system using 115V adapter, but it does not boot... I get the initial Toshiba screen for about 3 seconds and then the screen goes black but shows random lines. I´ve made quite a few attempts to get it to start but with same results.
Now I´m trying to open the underside of the laptop to check on the cleanliness around the fan and everywhere else, but after removing 23 screws (marked F6 and F4), everything seems to loosen up, except where the HDD rests. How do I remove the HDD? There seems to be a hidden screw underneath that doesn´t allow for the underside to get completely loose...
Thanks for any available help

You can now disregard my question on how to remove the HDD. I finally found out what was holding it in place: soft pads with glue on two sides.

But the original problem remains unsolved... if anyone can send me some suggestions on how to figure out if it may be a hardware or software problem, I will appreciate it.

SOURCE: Random Fatal Stop Error

The driver irql_not_less_or_equal error can have multiple causes, but most of the time it is a hardware/driver issue.
Check if there are any new drivers available for you computer's hardware devices and update them if so.
Running a memory test also does not harm, could be faulty RAM.

SOURCE: Toshiba R100 suddenly very slow(!)

I have a Toshiba Tecra M5 (s4332) and suddenly it too is very very slow. Takes about 6 minutes for fully boot up. It is very clean, defraged, no viruses, minimal software installed. Worked well, but now...it is painfully slow to do just about anything. Any suggestions?

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:

In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.

When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.

Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

I bought a used toughbook cf-t2 and it does not have hdd or operating system. What do I do now ?

If you want to keep it, you will have to buy the hard drive and op system, unless you go Linux. You can purchase them at Best Buy. The problem I see is that you really don't know if the computer works, and is worth the investment of getting it up and running. You can take a chance that it will function with the hdd and windows, or you can opt to sell it on ebay to try to recoup some of your money. You might try to get your money back, don't know if you can. That's about all I can think of. Good luck.

I posted about my laptop and needing an hdd password. the expert said to go to the control panel. i CANT do that because it asks for ''main HDD PASSWORD'' before it even starts up!please help i bought this...

It's probably actually a BIOS password. This can sometimes be removed quite easily by removing the dime-sized silver battery for the CMOS. For further information, check out this document.
