After the last use did you run a FULL tank of HOT water throught he machine to clear the lines and the pump? If not the soap has clogged one of the two. If it is the lines simply remove them (one at a time is less confusing) clear them and all is good. If it is the pump (white L shaped object back left corner of machine as you face it) you will have to go to a local vacuum repair shop and order the part.

I have found that the plastic hoses from the solution tank to the base have kinked on mine. After replacing them with a more pliable hose, the solution now flows.

Clean inside of brushes

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The Hoover SteamVac's are notorious for this exact problem. There are several things that can be causing this probelm.

First, what you'll need to do is take the brush block out of the machine. To do this there are 4 clips on the brush block. You will need to turn the machine upside down, and pull down on the brush block to where it won't pull out any farther. There are 4 clips, 2 on top, and 2 on the rear of the brushes. (See picture, I have circled one of the clips in red). Simply press these clips at the same time, and pull the brush block out of the machine. I'd say that 60% of the time that I see this problem, the main issue is that the brushes just need to be cleaned. If you have pets in the home, a lot of the time the pet hair will just be lodged inside the brushes, will prevent them from spinning. Use a pressurized water hose (garden hose2_bing.gif with spray nozzle is ideal) and spray each brush with water to dislodge any pet hair. You should be able to get these brushes spinning when you spray them. Spray each brush until the brushes are spinning pretty fast. Re-insert the brushes into the machine, and test to see if the cleaning has fixed your problem. If your brushes still wont spin, you may need to replace the brush block itself. Check the model number on your SteamVac which will be located on the back of the Steamvac on a stick with model information. GoVacuum.com does carry ALL of the SteamVac Brush Blocks on our site if you need to buy a new brush block.

Here's a picture on how you can remove these clips;

If this does not fix your problem, there are a few other problems that could be causing this.

Feel free to call me, or email me if you have any questions about your SteamVac, I'm more then happy to diagnose the problem overthe phone / email.

Hoover steamvac won't spray water/cleaning solution

Clogging of the pump that sprays water/cleaning solution is very common in Hoover and Bissell Steam Vacs. Try running a cycle of 1part vinegar or CLR to 3 parts warm, distilled water through the vacuum pumps. The heads get clogged with soap and the water pumps get clogged at the opening of the flash heater due to minerals in hard water. If you want to extend the life of your steam vac, don't use the heater unless you are using distilled water. This can get expensive, so I recommend not using the heater.

Hoover Steamvac Upholstery Cleaner will not spray water.

In my case when I pulled the trigger on the upholstery hose I barely got a drizzle of water. After looking at the parts online I realized the valve assembly on the spray end of the hose consisted of a black valve housing, with an inner spring and a white plunger part that sprays the water. The white plunger should move noticeably when the trigger is pulled. Since all 3 part of that valve assembly were replaceable I decided to try and take it apart. First I removed the 2 silver screws on the cover of trigger end of the hose and lifted out the valve assemble. The white plunger part was basically frozen in the black valve assembly. Tried pulling the white plunger out by hand wouldn't budge. So I use a pair of plier and pulled the white part out. Sure enough the whole inside was caked with what appeared to be old dried cleaner. I rinsed the spring and the white plunger. There were o-rings on the white plunger, I did not remove them but used an old tooth brush to clean out around them then reassembled. The white plunger now freeing slides a noticeable distance when the trigger is depressed and getting a large V shaped spray pattern. Lesson learned, I will now make sure I run plenty of plain water through the hose to rinse all the cleaner out after using it .

Hello dc42 & osuguy101. I suggest using a cleaning solution, 50/50 vinager/water, in the fluid tank to clean the ports. #2 Unit may have a fluid pump problem. Please update me on results.

My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

The attachment to clean furniture will not spray out water this is the first time we have used this just out of box. Also the detergent will not mix with the water

If you can see the cleaning fluid at the nozzel yet the it does not spray than the nozzles are clogged with dried soap. You can soak the the sprayer in a small bucket over night with a cleaning solution like CLR also used to break up hard water stains, dried soap & cloged shower heads. http://www.drugstore.com/qxp81915_333181_sespider/clr/cal__rust__lime_remover.htm
Here is a parts site for your Hoover.

Hoover f5520 steamvac duo upright wet washer

Your problem is inside the vacuum hose where they have installed a small coiled hose that carries water to the smaller power head for upholstery. After taking this apart I found the inner smaller coiled hose was broken at 2 different places. A very poor design and poor quality material. The hose looked like it was rotted. This could be from old detergent left in the line or maybe the wrong detergent. A job to get it apart but if you remove the three screws that hold the side plate over the electrical you can block that hose off and the machine will work on floors only as the water to the power head is terminated.
