Using soft scrub or some brand similar is the best thing to use. Manufacturers reccomend only soap and water, but soft scrub is best. Be sure to never use abrasives on any fixture, it will scratch and void warranty
Kohler makes a cleaning agent for cast iron sinks, if this is what you have.

hope this helps

Try getting a light rubbing compound and buff it out . Hopefully, you have scratched it too deep. I know this hurts when you scratched. No one likes to see there "new" sink messed up.

A few days ago we had the thermocast shiny black kitchen sink installed. No paperwork came with the sink! How do we maintain the sink and will it scratch? Any special products that we should use to...

A Master Collection designer Thermocast cast acrylic double bowl kitchen sink with a rich high gloss finish that is easy to clean with non-abrasive cleaners.

  1. 1

Put on rubber gloves. Spray the sink with a nonabrasive commercial kitchen cleaner, covering all surfaces of the sink with the spray.

  2. 2

Dampen a sponge in warm water. Wipe the sponge over the sink, scrubbing at any visible dirt.

  3. 3

Rinse the sink with warm water and then dry it with a clean towel.

  4. 4

Fill the sink with warm water and add 1 tsp. of chlorine bleach per gallon of water, once a month. This will sanitize the sink, and is recommended by Thermocast. Let the bleach-water mixture remain in the sink for 15 minutes, then drain the sink. Rinse.

  5. 5

Apply liquid automotive polish to a clean, soft cloth. Wipe the cloth over the sink to remove any scratches that may have occurred. Buff the sink using a circular motion. Rinse.

Abrasive cleaners may scratch Thermocast sink surfaces--using abrasive cleaners may also void the warranty.

My white double thermocast sink from home depot is only about 4 yrs old and looks 60. every kind of metal leaves black scratches that i can no longer remove with baking soda. I feel very ripped off.

If this is the white porcelain finish, once the scratches get deeper than the superficial layer of the finish, the more you polish, the thinner the finish becomes. This allows future scratches to become "permanent". Since it is from HomeDepot, there is a chance they may discount a replacement or replace it for free -even though it is over a year old & the care instructions may warn about abrasive cleaners.

I have scratches on the bottom of the sink

If they are very superficial, you can use a mild abrasive like Bon Ami or Bar Keeper's Friend. Follow instructions carefully, especially with the latter.

How to remove scratches from stainless steel appliances

Try this at your own risk. Step 1 Consider using a product made for stainless steel2_bing.gif such as Scratch-B-Gone or Bar Keepers Friend (see Tips).
  • Step 2 Or, try spraying an all-purpose cleaner (such as Formula 4092_bing.gif) on the scratches.
  • Step 3 Use a non-metal scouring pad (such as Scotch-Brite pads) to rub the cleaner in, always rubbing in the direction of the grain.
  • Step 4 Keep the stainless steel wet with the cleaner as you work, and rinse the pad often.
  • Step 5 Rinse the surface and wipe dry.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); });
    Tips & Warnings
    • Before using any treatment on your stainless cookware, sink or appliances, it is wise to call the manufacturer for advice.
    • A new product called Scratch-B-Gone is touted as the "first aid kit for stainless steel." You can find it at many home improvement stores.
    • Bar Keepers Friend is another product for stainless steel. It can be found in most grocery or home improvement stores, or at www.barkeepersfriend.com.
    • To keep stainless steel sinks from scratching, put a rubber mat in the bottom of the sink to protect it.
    • Avoid using abrasive

Scratches on a black swanstone sink

You could try automotive buffing compounds. Make sure to follow the directions on the package.
I have heard of people using fridge/stove touch up paints as well, though I have never tried this.

    Stains in my thermocast sink

Rinse after every use. Sanatize with Bleach once a month. Use a soft cloth or sponge and liquid soap to remove residue. Scratches can be buffed and polished with a liquid based auto polish to maintain High Gloss finish. Do not use abrasive cleaners which will dull the finish. If you have used the sink in a non-normal usage and stained it, it can not be repaired under most circumstances. If you have not voided the warranty, you may be eligible for a replacement from the company.

Surface scratches in my black bathroom sinks

You might try a vehicle buffer on them. If that doesn't work you will probably have to use a porcelain touch up kit that can be bought at your local hardware store.

How to remove burnt grease, fix lightly scratched black stovetop?

Hi, I assume we are talking about a flat glass top. First the bad news. using any abrasives will permanently scratch the glass hence the dull spot. You can however make it look a little better. Grease spots and the like can be removed with a flat razor blade scraper which needs to be held flat to avoid the corners making scratches. Use any good glass/ceramic cooktop cleaner ( which is the ONLY cleaner you should ever use ) (available in your local grocery diy store and some hardware stores). The cleaner is a thick liquid, put about a dime size drop on each burner area and use a paper towel to buff out the finish like waxing a car. Once it looks clean flip your paper towel over and shine the top to like new. Good Luck!
