My battery died a few weeks ago and my stereo shut off asking for a code. I have the serial number for the stereo but the dealerships want to charge me! It's ridiculous! Can you help?

Basically your going to have to go through the dealership, because there are websites that you can use but they cost just as much if not more than the dealerships. Make sure you write it down so if it happens again u'll have it....hope this helps

How do get radio code

You really have nothing to lose by trying, but the dealer may be right in stating the serial number may not be the unlock code.

Asking for code for my acura tsx cause i chang my battery and now when i try to on my radio its asking for a code

You have to do this: If you have jumped or replaced the battery at anytime this will happen. You have to get the serial number off the radio by removing it or partially taking it out to see the numbers on it try not to remove any cords. With the stereo out (to make sure you get the right number off of it) call an Acura dealership with the number and they will give you the another number to enter into the stereo and directions on how to punch the numbers in. Make sure while you have the stereo out you write the serial number down and keep it in a safe place also the number that the Acura dealership gives you because if you sell the car or if it happens again its easily accessible. Good Luck!

I need to unlock my stereo in a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport

Well any place that services Mitsubishi's can give you the code, like your local Mitsubishi dealership.. but in order to give you the unlock code - you need to give them the serial number off the back of your radio.

Yeah I know. When I spoke to my Mitsubishi dealership's service department they told me that i I brought the car in they would charge me for a half hour of labor (so 1/2 of $75) to find the serial number and do it for me. Then I could write down the code on the owners manual for next time.

Apparently the Mitsubishi software that the dealers have, has a little wizard where they plug in the radio serial number, and the software spits out the unlock code. They said they would give me my code over the phone for free, if I had a means to get my own serial number.

Alpine 7190et car stereo battery changed, need code to reset

Power On The Unit And Hold The M Button. This Will Display The Serial Number Across The Screen. Once You Have Noted The Serial Number Call Your Local Dealership And Ask For The Security Code. They Will Ask For The Serial Number You Noted And Then Give You The Code For Your Exact Unit. The Code Isn't The Same For All Of The Units As It Is For Security Purposes.
Hope This Helps You,
Sincerely,
Michael Scott

Clean my battery cable when to turn on the radio and now it is asking for a code number.

Your radio code will be printed on a small card that should be with your owner's manual for the vehicle. If you no longer have this, then you will need to visit either a car dealership or a local stereo shop. You will need to first obtain the serial number printed on a sticker on the underside of your car's radio. Take this serial number to the car dealership (they may ask for VIN# too) and they will give you the code.
