Question about Dell Inspiron 1100 Notebook
My laptop was doing fine until one day, when I opened it, the entire screen came up red, instead of blue, with white characters. The next time I opened it the screen was very dim--it has lost all it's brightness and is difficult to see.
Sounds like your Back-light Bulb malfunctioning.
You may need to replace the Back-light, and possibly the Inverter as well.
Confirm that your Brightness setting is not set:
Look for your Function Key and and icon of a sun or a half/full circle. If this does not help then you have defective parts that need to be replaced.
