Display problems hey, my acer aspre notebook zg5, has a problem with the display. it does not fill the whole screen, and is not centered. cannot find how to correct this. your help would be much appriceated. thankyou

Your system is not Passing the Power On Self Test or POST and will need to be seen to by a computer technician. He/she will then diagnose the faulty component and then replace it. Claim warranty support if it is available to you.

It could be a loose connection between the RAM modules or actual physical damage at the internal display cable/bus. Some-times these get severed by the hinge.

Test your computer's functionality by connecting a friends computer monitor to the VGA out of your notebook. If it powers on and displays your desktop then the problem lies with either your screen or graphics card, or graphics card connection.

You might have to check your display drive.If a reset by removing battery off some time will not bring back the display.It can be the LCD pannel failure ,the flexible chords to the display which goes through the hinges could be damaged,or failure in the display drive.

either the onbaord graphics card is faulty, or your lcd screen is faulty.

try to plug a vga cable to it and send signal to the monitor/tv screen, is that works fine then its your lcd. if it doesnt then its the on board graohics card

connect the laptop to an external monitor, turn it on see if the monitor will display.

If the monitor displays, then it means your screen inverter or screen bulb is the cause of the laptop screen being blank.

Also if the monitor does not display anything, the maybe the graphic card is the cause of the problem.

This would involve you taking the laptop to a repairer

most laptop screens are connected by a ribbon type lead and after time the lead can become warn and therefore stop your laptop screen from working.
to solve the problem...new screen,new laptop,connect the laptop to another screen ie:on your desktop,if the screen pops up then this is 99% the reason it not working

You should contact Acer. They know they have a display problen with the Acer Aspire One that can be fixed with a BIOS upgrade. We got our done. They sent us a USB thumb drive with the files and instructions on how to boot the thumb drive. After a couple of minutes the Acer restarted and all is fine.

hey hi ...i have Acer aspire one model no. ZG5 showing problem in its web cam.. couple of days before it was working perfectly alright.. then unfortunately i deleted my audio driver some how and after that i put the CD n recovered my system since this system recovery my web cam is not working.. i have linux fedora installed in my laptop..[by the way i m new user of linux so dont know its features and options rightly] its messenger is not showing me my web cam option on a chat window.. please help me.. it seems to me that there is some driver missing or may be web cam is disable.. but m fail to find the problem... kindly help me..

Does it start up white or does it change at a certain point during boot up?

If you are sure the computer is running then connect an external monitor to the laptop. You will have to select the external using your Function keys FN + F7 or F8. If you can now see your machine on the external monitor then you know it's the screen portion of your laptop that is faulty. If this does not work then the sounds you are hereing are probably just the fan and the hard drive spinning. These are not an indication that the computer is working. All in all, I would say that the laptop needs to see a pro.
