Question about Samsung Rugby SGH-a837 Cell Phone
How can I "UNFREEZE" my Samsung Rugby Cell Phone? At & T is the provider of the Rugby, but I want to use it with my provider CingularOne of East Texas. I was using it with my provider, however, my son tried putting in his SIMS card, with a different provider, and now it's FROZEN
Freezing - You can call it as Locking of phone as well.....To be on a safe side, if you try more than one sim in on phone, your phone ought to be locked :( ( the term is called freezing as well _)..
You need to get in touch with the service provider. There would a lock code you need to enter to open it. Many websites are there to offer you lock codes like :-
But i would prefer you to get in touch with service provide.
No shorcut would work. It would only add to the frustration and nothing else.
I totally understand your concern but that would be the wise solution to get in touch with service provider and get this phone unlocked.
Hope that would help you.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Do rate the solution.

On the AT&T Network, to unlock the Samsung SGH-A837 (Rugby):
To obtain the IMEI number press *#06# on your mobile device.
Or Try this
Insert ANY unaccepted SIM card in the phone and then turn the phone on, follow the steps in 1 to 4 below to enter all the codes. The phone will states "Wrong card" at the end of step 2 and "network lock deactivated" at the end of step 4 if you do everything right so pls take your time to enter the code or follow the instruction correctly at each step. When entering some of the zeros at steps 3 and 4 your phone may display the zero as hyphen or minus (-), dont worry, just count when entering the zero to ensure you enter just the right numbers of zeros. Now let's begin... 1/ Put any unaccepted SIM card in your SAMSUNG SGH Phone, turn the phone on, it will display "WRONG CARD"
2/ At the wrong card screen, type *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#
3/ Now remove the battery with the SIM card, Put the battery back and turn the phone on again without the SIM card, it will display "Insert SIM card" 4/ At the insert SIM card screen/end of step 3 above type #7465625*638*00000000#
At the end of step 4 phone will show "network lock deactivated" 5/ Now Reinsert your unaccepted card or any other unaccepted SIM card in the phone and enjoy your unlocked phone!

There are numerous factors that have to be considered for unlocking a
frozen phone. Firstly it depends on the brand of phone you have.
Because different brands have different kinds of codes for unlocking.
Secondly, You have to see what is the reason of the freeze. It can be
because of a viral message, or due to memory overload etc.
If you suspect your SIM has become blocked and you have exhausted all the allowed attempts to enter the correct PIN, you need to enter PUK (Personal Unblocking key) now.
If you see on phone's screen "Please enter PUK Code", you must enter PUK. If you see "Contact service provider" then you need a new SIM.
You should have the PUK but if you haven't then you need to contact your service provider to get PUK - they will charge you a little money.
If they can't help you, try a legitimate online unlocking service - there are many available online.
You can also take your phone to a repair/ unlocking store to get it unlocked.

Hope I helped with the repair of your problem.
An Accept from you is how I get paid.
And a positive feed back tells me how I did with the repair.
