Question about Philips 51PP9303H Rear Projection Television
This tv has no audio or video. I have replaced the two stk392-120 ic's and it still does it. The kit includes 12 one watt resistors which the tv does not have. The tv makes a chirping sound i believe from the power supply board. Can anyone help me?
First- What have you checked ( voltages) It sounds from the chirping that the set is in HV shut down. I would probably check the HV Horiz Output transistor for a short. If it is shorted you can disconnect the collector and the short will be removed then the B+ will come up briefly as you monitor it. There has been many cases of the Blue CRT cracking and shorting out the mentioned transistor. If you have never worked on this chassis before I don't think you and I can repair it over the net, unless your a tech also. You can also take a flashlight and look into the blue crt closely for a crack line. It will be noticeable. If it is I suggest not repairing it because I doubt if you'll find the tube. If the tube is not cracked then there are more voltages and resistance checks to determine where the short is. I know this sounds complicated but I'm a tech not just a Q/A person. Let me know if I can help any further.

You hot is part of the HV Generator. One piece. must change the whole generator. The resistors are there, if you dont know where to put them, you have no business trying to monkey with a $2000 tv when electronics veterans like myself put food on our tables by repairng sets. Another point, if you are not trained on proper ESD handleing precautions, your only going to damage more chips and you will end up paying more for a real tech to fix it, IF THEY WILL EVEN TOUCH IT AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN IN IT.

The STK's were replaced because a problem in the convergence. This problem (convergence) in most cases allows you to turn on the set just the screen looks out of geometry (by the way the resistors are critical parts that fail together with the IC's. To get the tv back on is needed a check up in the power supply and other areas related to high voltage power supply.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
