I found several outlets that said they sell Echo chain saw parts but none of them could come up with the ones I needed. It seems that ECHO doesn't want anyone repairing their equipment except their dealers who seem to easily get the parts.
I took the saw to a dealer an hour from here and he put a new clutch, drumb, bearing, and some other small parts in that clutch area. The saw runs fine now so I won't need farther help. Your solutions was correct but I just wasn't able to get the parts and do it myself. Thanks 2bigal

How to reassemble chain brake on an Echo CS-350T that jammed and was pulled apart by someone else?

From what I see you will need assemble thing leaving the main spring and brake cover off. Before attempting to put the main back in install a clutch drum inside the brake band. Then you slip on the main spring and pry the end on with a flat blade screw driver. Now install in the cover for the spring and brake. Reset the chain brake and remove the drum.

Now install the chain brake on the saw and test. Do not trip the chain brake without the clutch drum in place. If these are anything like the Husqvarna version after they get worn they will get where it is nearly impossible to reset.

How do you replace clutch on cs 350 echo chain saw

I am guessing what you are calling the clutch band is the anti kickback brake. It is operated by a "lever" in front of the hand grip on the front of the saw. Pull that lever towards the rear of the saw to get more slack in the band.

Brand new Echo cs-400 chain saw: The chain spins fast on idle. Should'nt the chain be stationary on idle?

The manual is available here:

The idle speed of the negine may be too high.
Page 26 of the manual gives instructions for adjusting the speed with the "T" screw on the carburettor.

It sounds to me like maybe the springs in the clutch are bad or there is some debris in there. I would check that out. Remove the bar and chain. At that point the clutch will be exposed. The outer round surface should turn freely around on the inside part. If this is not the case replace the clutch.

Chain brake problem

http://www.echo-usa.com/pdf/documentation/CS3000T1T1E_081303.pdf

This is the breakdown of parts for your model, you can see how the brake is, but your problem sounds like the dogs inside the clutch are stuck and causing the chain to constantly engage the chain.

Open the clutch to look at it and see what is causing this.

The idle usually will not cause the clutch to engage, this is usually
a higher rev that engages the clutch.

I have an Echo CS-440 18" chain saw and the chain came off. Now that I have put it back on, it won't move either by hand or when the engine is running. Help

OK.  This is simple. Either the chain brake is engaged or the chain is too tight. Start by pulling back on the chain brake toward you.  There should be a "click" if the brake was released.  If the chain is still immovable, try resetting the chain tension. 1. remove the spark plug wire 2. loosen the two clutch cover nuts 3.hold the bar nose up and loosen the tension adjustment screw until the chain moves freely without becoming loose. 4. tighten both clutch cover nuts with the bar held up. 5. Pull the chain around the bar by hand.  Loosen the adjustment if you feel tight spots. 6. When the chain is properly tensioned, tighten clutch cover nuts securely.  Do not overtighten! 7.  Check chain brake operation and release. 8. Replace spark plug wire and operate  saw.
Hope this solution will Fixya.
