My HP dv4269us is having sound issues. when you restart the computer the start up music is choppy to begin with. There is minimal start up material under "msconfig" so it's not that. The internet works fine and it processes at normal rates on all programs. Only when sound is involved does it act up. i can't play any videos or songs because the computer all of a sudden acts like 15 programs are running at once. someone please help. i've been working on this forever now.

I found out that my computer was using "PIO" setting instead of DMA. i had to delete the driver and restart. it automatically reconnected the right way. now it works perfect.

You can try shutting off Audio Hardware Acceleration.

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Advanced (Under Speaker Settings) > Performance.

When ever I play video and sound files, or run computer games, even computer booting up, the audio is laggy and choppy with lots of static, and video playback is accompanying it by being choppy and laggy. ...

I would reinstall the sound driver by going to the control panel choose system then when the device manager tab comes up choose hardware.Find the sound devices then right click on it to remove it.Windows will autimatically re-install the device.

Hi phil4877 ,

Please try re-installing the Drivers and Software for the Printer in the Computer to fix the issue. Also install the Critical Update in the Computer to fix the issues with Scanning.

First, please download the Complete Software and Download package from the below link. After that, please double click on the downloaded file to begin the installation. After installation please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL31018/mp-76975-1/AIO_CDB_2570_Full_Win_WW_130_141.exe

Once you have restarted the Computer, please download and install the Critical Update from the below link. Please save the file on the Desktop, double click on it to begin the installation. After that, restart the Computer again for the settings to take the effect.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32261/oj-79942-3/CPE_SCAN_DESTINATION_UPDATE_hpcom_001_003.exe

This should fix the issue.

Hope this helps.

Sound does not work with a dvd. the sound is choppy

Choppy audio is usually caused by many applications or processes running in the background.

If you already have a Virus scanner, that updates regularly you can skip the Malware scan.

I would suggest three things. A malware scan, a maintenance cleaning, and checking your startup applications.

To run a malware scan goto: www.trendmicro.com/housecall

And follow the instructions on the page, let this run, until the results dialogue window pops up, this make take a while. 1-3+ hours. Just let it run, you do not need to attend it once it tells you it is scanning.

For maintenance cleaning, visit this site to download an application called CCleaner
http://www.filehippo.com/download/file/df09062a5bdcfd3a0a0cf31f7117c0cb566fe5b698d89848911da4e434cb72f5/

After these steps.
To adjust what programs you have starting up in the beginning:

Start > Run > Type "MSCONFIG" > Click the Startup Tab then un-check any program entries that you don't need starting up in the beginning. This does not remove them from your computer, just from starting up in the beginning and taking resources in the background. When you need the program, you can simply click on its link in your start menu. It is your choice what you keep and what to remove.

If these steps do not solve your issue, there may be a complication with your Audio Hardware acceleration. To rectify this issue:

Access your control panel:
Start > Control Panel
OR
Press and Hold "Windows Key Logo" + Press "E" > Click "Control Panel" from the left-side menu (or address bar, depending on your configuration.)

Once their click "Sounds and Audio Devices"

While in the Audio Devices window:
Click on the "Volume" tab and click on the "Advanced" button under Speaker settings.

Click the "Performance" tab > drag the slider for Hardware Acceleration to none.

These directions are for Windows XP generally, but you should find the location is similar in Vista.

It is important to note that this procedure should solve your issue; however, in the event that it does not, this procedure does increase the performance of your machine dramatically. Nothing will be harmed if these steps are followed in their entirety.

If these steps do not solve the problem, please let us know. If this information was helpful to you, please take a moment to rate the solution. Thank you.

Choppy sound and video on laptop

Unfortunately your video card memory is probably lacking. And/or your settings are set too high for your processor to handle. Right click on your desktop, goto properties, goto settings, and select for best perfomance then apply.

CD's play simple audio files. DVD's and games play large video files and large audio files that are choppy on older systems. you may need to upgrade your memory. Make sure you delete all you dont use, run disk cleanup. REstart. Run, disk defrag, Restart.

A good test is goto : www.belarc.com or belarcadvisor.com

They will tell you if yoursystem is uptodate.

Good luck!

You may just be running a older processor?

Let me konw,
