Question about LG Televison & Video
You have a bad solder joint/joints in the TV. A modern TV has hundreds of solder joints that are made by machine during the manufacturing process.
Over time, some of the joints heat up and then cool as you switch the TV on and off. Some become brittle and break.
This has happened to you. When you wait for the TV to cool down or whack the TV the joint should 'makes' the circuit and the TV works for a while again till the Circuit heats up again.
You are going to have to have a tech check it out and track down the bad joint. It is probably in either the power supply or horizontal deflection circuit.

Based on the problem that you have stated, there's a defective relay inside your Plasma. You need to bring your Plasma to the Service Center for repair if it's still under warranty.

Please check the manual and then for the auto timmer off/On option. I am sure the auto timer is set to a particular time for example 30 mins or 60 mins. Please change that to 00 mins and the TV should keep working without shutting off.
