If the batteries aren't used frequently - or are allowed to discharge fully - they will lose their ability to charge and maintain voltage.

Each time they discharge to "dead" the charge capacity decreases - and now they are to the point they do not hold sufficient voltage for the camera to operate.

New battery packs will be required. When the batteries are not in use - they should be kept on a trickle charger to maintin capacity at all times.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

My canon sureshot sx120 wont power up

The most common reason for this on these & other similar cameras in Canon's range is that the contact(s) at the bottom of the battery compartment get pushed in & no longer make contact with the battery. In some cases, the contact is soldered to a printed circuit board and the solder joint breaks. In any case, it's probably going to need repair by a technician - and, I'm afraid, it may be cheaper to buy a used one on Ebay :/

Simon XT "system low battery"

IT might be testing ok, but you need to load test it. It could be the charging circuit but in most cases the battery will show a surface charge that is ok for a short period of time.

I have a Simon XT which I installed about two weeks ago. I keep getting a system low battery message when I press the status button on the console. I had a new battery shipped and I installed it about 24...

Call your Central Station and put your account on test if it is a monitored system.

Power down the system. Disconnect the battery, then the AC adapter. Then plug the battery in first, then the AC adapter. Plugging the AC adapter in first can cause the low battery message.

if that doesn't work, with the battery disconnected, measure the voltage of the battery with a multimeter. If it reads less than 5.4 volts, the battery is bad. Bad out of the box batteries are not too uncommon.

Next, check the charging voltage from the panel. Measure DC voltage from the leads that connect to the battery. They should read around 6 Volts DC. If the charging circuit is bad, it will cause a low battery trouble and the console will need to be repaired or replaced.

Hope this helps.

There is no fuse on the Simon 3 board. If your transformer is good and measures 9-11V AC you charging circuit is gone and you will need a new motherboard. AlarmProfessor.net

I have a brand new GE Simon 3 system and am getting a low battery warning. Does it need to charge for a few days out of the box, or was i given a bad part?

No it does not need a few days 12 hrs should have been enough. you will need a multi meter to check this. pull battery off panel after confirming leed where connected properly. meter battery. I believe its a 6v battery should read 6.25-6.5v approx. if so check volts on the leads should also read 6.25-6.5v appox. if so try running sensor test. open panel door look for red numbers enter your code then select sensor (test) then "done" wait 5 min then close panel door. Then press status button. if this does not solve problem. time for service call.

Module ok simon version 3

You need a new battery. 6VDC 1.2AH. The GSM module runs directly off the battery and it is no longer getting a full charge.

I have a cannon sureshot it won't turn on i charged the battery and put it back in model number sd750

Unfortunately the no-power problem within the Canon SD750 line is quite common. The good news is: It can be repaired! Just check that link out which leads to a repair service that should be able to take care of you.

The no-power issue is resolved by just replacing the main PCB (printed circuit board) inside the camera.

GE Simon 3 low battery warning: Newer battery has 6.54V?

Read the battery voltage with the system on but with the ac power disconnected. I always suspect the battery from experience. Battery needs to be replaced every few years normally(but can vary).

Canon PowerShot Pro1

It probably has a battery that can't hold a charge to it and needs to be replaced. Those batteries can be purchased at Canon using this link:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=256&modelid=9823#SNAModelSuppliesAct

You might be able to find a less expensive one on EBay, Radio Shack, or Batteries +
