Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
My son's PS3 is about 16 / 17 months old (it was a Xmas present in Dec 2007 so is out of warranty).
Until last week we experienced no problems, discs were inserted and the autoplay function took over. For no apparent reason we experienced problems last week.
Firstly, during a game (call of duty 5 - it's not called that but it's the one that followed call of duty 4 - sorry, I'm not a gamer!!) the game froze and we couldn't get it working again. We switched it off for about 10 minutes and it seemed ok after that.
Then the next day we encountered the current problem. Discs are inserted and nothing happens. The system is not picking them up. We tried the switching on / off thing which didn't work and have tried both system resets including the one that wipes all the memory and puts it back to factory settings, this made no difference.
It seems to me that the disc drive is broken and will need replaced but if you have any suggestions It would be appreciated.
PS. I have written to Sony via their website but not had a response yet.
I had the problem and after 2 days of messing with it i fixed it. i smashed it on the ground and solved the problem.
