I aways use Pinnacle Studio and it has always worked good until one day I have filmed on a music concert with very loud music.

On the display on the canon camera I have no problem if i play the tape but in the computer I have sound problems.

If I connect the camara directly to the TV I have image problems and the sound is good.

I think I need to send it to repair.

I dont use any codec, Its just the autimtic proces of trasfer the DV to MPEG2 or AVI that goed automaticly.

Which sound codec are you using?

You use that program coming with the canon?

No way, you do not understand video software.
All sound and image have their codecs even raw.
Pinnacle is troublesome
Ulead is better
For free even VirtualDub does a good job.
Canon was rejected because of poor image quality twice by me.
In any good video software you can adjust that automaically capturing "codec" if enough installed i.e. K-Lite codec package

From your story i gather your PC is way below Pinnacle capacity (too heavy burden) so it cant process and compress fast enough resulting in frame and soundbits los. CPU, memory, diskcache etc all to be taken in consideration.
