On the lid there are thin plastic rails that frame two 35mm Negatives. Place the film in that holder, framing what you wish.

Check HP's site for the owners manual for advanced settings for your specific model to get the best results from your Negative or as HP calls it Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA)

Cannot save in pdf format after scanning thru hp g3010 scanner using win7 pro

Hi abdul_haq779,

This problem couldd be resolved by printing the format that you get via your scanner for e.g. jpeg into pdf , by using a free pdf printer tool.

Once you have an image scanned via your scanner , you can just print the image in pdf mode.

Is it possible to set the scan area on a HP G3010 scanner? For example, set the area to be 8" by 11" ?

I have the same problem with a HP psc 1600. It always scans 8.5 x 11.69. Unless I manually crop each scanned page, the pdf output is put on legal size to accomodate the height greater than 11".

The film goes into the adapter and the adapter mounts on the underside of the lid.  Complete manual available free at http://www.scribd.com/doc/7571067/HP-Scanjet-G3010-Users-Manual

Installing HP Scanjet G3010

While installing the software, I registered my purchase with HP. It was quite some time before the confirmation eMail appeared which allowed me to follow a simple chain of links to troubleshoot the problem. It turns out that this device does not like being connected through a non-powered USB hub. The full problem description can be seen at...

Negatives to pictures

The manual didn't show negative and slide support. I recommend you some of the hp products like HP Photosmart C7180 All-in-One, HP Scanjet G3010, HP Scanjet G4010, etc.
