Question about Dell Dimension 9200 PC Desktop
Hi, My desktop will not start up. Everytime I start it starts as if it will start up but after the windows XP screen it gives me the message 'Checking file system on D: The type ofthe file system is NTFS. Volume label is backup. CHKDSK is verifying files (Stage 1 of 5)...' then goes through CHKDSK is verifying indexes (Stage 2 of 5) CHKDSK is verifying security descriptions(Stage 3 of 5) CHKDSK is verifying file data (Stage 4 of 5) CHKDSK is verifying (Stage 5 of 5) and does this for the c drive also.. it then re-starts the pc & starts the whole process above again. Please help!
Try and tap F8 and see if you can boot to safe mode and go to my computer and rt click on C, and pick properties then tools, then
check for errors, and check auto,and scan.
Go to dell.com if you don't know who made the hard drive in your model. Then go to the mfg of the hard drive and download a hard drive diagnostic disk to check your hard drive for bad sectors.
You should go to dell.com and check your warranty and you can also ask dell what you should do.

Your problem's cause of Hard Disk Error.To make sure , you can repair your windows.If you can't, you have yo install anew Hard Disk.Note that: Don't forget to Backup your data.

I would download and run the registry
utility from iobit.com use the malware remove tool.
It is freeware and works then run CHKDSK/F.
