Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I inserted a tape into the VHS slot. It runs through the film but without coming on the screen or any audio. It will not eject the tape. The door opens and closes and it starts running the tape again. I've tried the obvious repetitions, turning the system on and off, various remote buttons. There's more to my problem but could we start with this? Thanks for your help. Joan Stallard

Thank you for your help. However spending the money to have a professional deal with it doesn't make sense with an older machine. I guess I'll go shopping.

The tape is now jammed. stop trying to get it out because it will be destroyed. To rescue the tape now without damage, the tv-man has to open the set and from there un-stick this tape. after that a service is needed in the belts of that machine. The set now is in the middle of this process and maybe this symptom creates the set to shut down after some seconds after because the microprocessor is protecting the complete set integrity.

How do I load the tape

I see your picture of a cassette player. Guess you are referring to that. (tapes also come in reel-to-reel, and 8-track). Just push the "EJECT" button (power may need to be applied to some units for the eject button to work). The tape slot will open. Insert tape with exposed tape on the "head" side of the opening, usually the heads are on the bottom of the slot.. You can't put it in any other way and have the door close. The "door" that opens has guides for you to slide the tape into. The side you want to listen to should face you. Either manually close the tape compartment or push the close button (depending on model). If the door doesn't close, you put it in upside down. Push play and enjoy.

My VHS player will occasionally accept the vhs tape but then it pulls out the film then turns off or ejects the tapes how can i fix it

Unfortunately there is some damage to the drive mechanism of the VCR. This will need to be fixed. I can't say what is causing it, but it is clearly not pulling the tape back inside the cassette before the eject action takes place.

When inserting vhs tape, the player pulls the tape from inserted vhs

That is exactly what a typical M-Load mechanism is supposed to do. Once the VHS tape cassette is inserted, cassette housing cover will be flipped up and two arms will pull tape out of cassette housing to wrap tape around cylindrical spinning head housing that contains video heads and, if VHS HI-FI, audio heads as well. When stop or eject button is pressed, arms will retract and tape will wind back into cassette housing. What type of problem are you experiencing with unit? It may have nothing to do with M-load engaging tape around head cylinder.

Direct copy VCR to DVD:
- Insert VHS tape you want to copy
- Insert a recordable DVD disc
- Press DVD copy button on front panel or remote control (to DVD).

IMPORTANT: If attempting to copy copyrighted material the Samsung DVD-VR320 will detect the encoding and will not allow the copy to be made.

Vhs tape gets chewed

Dear William,
the rubber belts and rubber capstan need cleaning/conditioning. you can attempt this with alcohol swabs and if you find rubber conditioner (in the past was easy to find in audio supply stores) apply some of this also. if this treatment does not solve, then may need new rubber belt kit. good luck.

Sounds like you broke the sensor. Not exactly a DIY fix... It'll probably run around $50-80 to repair it.

check the rubber band on the motor that is used to inserts the tapes. it might be lose or getting old. it does not matter what brand it is, the vcr is programed to take all of them unless there is something worng with the tape. any way, check the rubber band. good luck
