I did a google search for the service manual and found one from Sanyo support. From that I was able to figure out how to open the unit safely, and find the fuses and safety switches to check. I found a loose wire plugged onto the main interlock switch (don't know how it worked all this time for how loose it was...). Re-attached it, and now it works fine.
WARNING! There can be very hi voltages on the inside of the uwave so you really need to be careful and know what you are doing! Also, you need a special bit to remove a couple of the cover screws.

Not heating

Please post a new help request here on FixYa and include the full model number from the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere on the microwave, such as the door frame, controller frame, etc. and please answer the questions below.
When you hit "Start" to microwave, do the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable all come on?

Any unusual noises? Is it louder or quieter than usual?

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here

My Sanyo microwave oven (model: EM-G4753) isn't heating my food. Everything else works, the fan, the lights. The microwave turns and sounds like everything is working but the food won't get hot. It is only...

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

This is a job for a professional but if you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the !!!!any capacitors are discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

Sanyo microwave model em-s5002w won't heat...sounds louder

Sounds like a component failure in the microwave circuit.

It will be one or more of the following -

Fuse
Diode
Capacitor
Transformer
Magnetron

Reply back and I can help you more. These failures happens to new or old microwaves.

I have a EM-G653 model. The front pannel is not working sometimes. And the screen display: dEF kg, all the keys are not reacting, but the Stop/Cancel makes beep, beep when I pressed. But after a while, it...

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

Otherwise, it sounds like your "defrost" key on the keypad may be shorting.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

Nothin works on my key pad

Here are lock / unlock schemes for three recent Sanyo models:

- Press and hold Stop/Cancel for 3 seconds
- Press and hold Stop/Reset for 3 seconds or so
- Press Stop/Clear five times

Hopefully one of those will work.

If none of these work for you, contact Sanyo Service Customer Service.

Sanyo microwave EM-X515G

I'm thinking that the circuit board has a problem. I doubt it will work but disconnect all the connectors on the board...with the power off and reconnect. It may clean off some goo. If not, use your method as long as it will work and then consider a new board.

Sanyo EM-P740w

It looks like you would enter the cooking time then press POWER 1 to 10 times. Once = 100%, twice = 90%, thrice = 80%, and so on, and "PL#" will appear in the display where "#" is the selected power level. On some models, twice = 80% and thrice = 60%, etc. and "80%", or "60%", etc., will appear in the display. Then press START. Did that do it?
