Question about Dell Dimension 4600 PC Desktop
Your machine's maximum is 1GB. By installing a 1GB chip on top of your 256MB chip, you've overloaded your motherboards capability. Remove the 256 chip and reboot. Your machine will then recognize the 1GB of RAM with no error.
