The refrigerator is a Ge Profile Arctic Side By Side Refrigerator. It is 7 years old. Items that are placed close to the back of the refrigerator are being frozen anywhere from the top to the bottom food storage drawers. I have turned down the refrigerator setting from 5 to 4 (9 is coldest) and it does not seem to help. I often pull the refrigerator out to vacuum the dust from behind the unit. I have not been very good at replacing the water filter every six months...sometimes it has gone almost 9 months - but the sensor never seems to indicate when it needs changing.
Also, in the freezer, in the ice bin, a white plastic insert cracked and pieces broke off and ended up being dispensed. I've taken out the entire plastic part and the ice maker still seems to work - do I need to place it?
Please help if you can before I call a repairman.
Just lower it one number at a time , wait 24 hrs each time you re set it until you reach the right temp. 34-40 deg.
Your filter light has not came on most likely because it has not had the time to. You do not need to replace your filter every six months. This is a safe guesstamate from the manufacture , it depends on water quality and use of water , some filters will go years and years , the filter indicator does not even know if the filter is bad.
When you notice water pressure slowing when dispensing from the door you know the filter needs replaced.
Hope this gets you out of that service fee. This should FIX IT!
