Printer won't recognise new colour cartridge

Replaced new colour ink cartridge, and since then the display keeps on saying "Colour ink cartridge needs replacing. Replace colour ink cartridge". Have took the cartridge out and replaced it but unsure of the problem. This is very fustrating as i do a lot of printing for uni work.

I am having the exact same problem...I have updated drivers, several new ink cartridges and Kodaks online help...which is no help as they walked me through steps I had already taken &  I suggested a new print head. So, Im going to try that, i just have to get one... Ill post if this works. :D

Have since downloaded drivers and that has not worked. So will wait and see if changing the printhead works when you change yours. Thanks :)

Clogged nozzel or print head would cause this error, if you were using refilled ink i am willing to bet that is what it is

Replaced ink cartridges but it keeps saying cartridges not recognised

sounds like the cartridges are in the wrong slots/ not fully seated, or the protective film over the jets were not removed

I have a HL4040CN copier. When the message comes up that ink is low, how can I tell what color ink cartridge needs replacing

You're just going to have to keep printing until you see which cartridge is getting dry. It'll be either the black one or the colour one. This way you won't buy the wrong cartridge. If you print black text and it starts to come out grey then it's the black cartridge that needs to be replaced. The same with colour, if the picture looks faded then you'll need a new colour cartridge.

There is a small switch in the bottom of the carriage where the ink goes, if it is broken you will need a new carriage assembly.

HP 4280 - new black refilled cartridge not recognised

hi steve... the solution to your problem is a costly one. the printer keeps in memory 2 cartidges for colour and 2 for black, when a third is placed in the printer the first one is deleted out of memory same for the colouredand same for the black... therefore you need 3 cartridges each to do the trick.
eg. if you want to use colour cartridge #2 then 1st place colour nuber 1 or 3, then turn it on let it reads, then open door and place in colour number 3 or 1 let it read, then take out and place in coulur number 2 and it will see it as new

Printer wont recognise new colour cartridge

most common, is there is a tiny piece of lint or paper shred, has worked its way between the ink cartridge and the print carrieage connectors,
take the cartridges out and wipe down the connectors on the cartridge and carriage with a lint free cloth or lens brush
Isopropyl alcohol is a good residue free cleaning fluid,
if no all the connectors answer, the printer assumes a wrong cartridge

not a guarantee, just something to try
