Question about Magellan eXplorist 500 GPS Receiver
In order to make the zoom buttons work I have to press them very deep. The situation is getting worst, now the zoom in is not even working any more.
Mine does the same. I find if I tap press on the in button it works better. My out button works fine.

Unfortunately, this is a problem with the keys and their contacts with the circuit board. I have had to return mine a couple of times to get this repaired. If you're out of warranty, they have a trade-up program which is a better deal than repairing the unit.

After NOT using a similar Explorist 300 for a year, I found that a Zoom button and the NAV button do not work, because of no contact below the keyboard. I can get around the NAV problem using the ESC key. Force and luck occasionally cause the Zoom key to work.
My guess is that a plastic bubble wears out after repeated use.
It's probably not worth fixing but it would be nice to be able to replace the bubble contacts.
