I have a problem with my i-mate jam

I have recently started having the same problem. My phone starts hanging up for no apparent reason. I will add a couple observations, one helpful, one less helpful. I've noted that A) I occasionally knock the touch screen red end-call button with my chin or cheek---I must discover someway to toggle the keypad off (and the screen) to not hangup. B) I noticed today it did it about 8 times. The battery was below 60% charge (around 55-52%) and also the phone signal was weak (changing alot from four bars to two bars, which may have been somehow drawing more battery during that critical 50% phase. Maybe low battery is related to the call dropping. When I say low I mean this 60% or lower range, paired with signal strength.

It is a general imate Hang up. Some imates just do it for no particular reason like a design flaw. Otherwise you could try an updated ROM version. On one imate I solved there where loose screws inside because of someone tampering with it but I don't think that's the case with yours. Try imate's site for a ROM version upgrade.
