Re: audio problem

You know that windows xp service pack 3 is very unstable and it has many bugs.

When installing windows xp service pack 3 follow this following this follow this including
the software that should be installed:
1.Install (AMD hotfix for sp3) this software should be installed first before installing sp3. Go to to download this.
2.Then install sp3 patch after install sp3 hotfix otherwise your system will be unstable.
NOTE: hotfix for sp3 should be installed first then the sp3 patch

In your case right now you have already installed sp3 and for sure you haven't installed hotfix.
I hope you will follow this solution and you know i have encounter this many times.

Re: audio problem

Is that an Microsoft Official Service Pack? anyways. Try using a System Restore and choose a restore point on your problem.

if using xp sp3 change the CSDVersion from 300 to 200 and then install the xp driver how to change CSDVersion found here:

1. Click Start, Run. Type Regedit.exe and press ENTER
2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Windows 3. Note down the existing value data for CSDVersion, as you’ll have to reinstate the original value data later. (The values of CSDVersion will be 0×100 for SP1, 0×200 for SP2, 0×300 for SP3 and so forth.)
4. Double-click CSDVersion and set its data to 0×200
5. Run the Change Analysis Diagnostic installer.
6. After setup is complete, restore the original value data for CSDVersion.
7. Exit the Registry Editor.

No sound

Go to Compaq site, and check if there are drivers for win xp. Mind that xp does not include drivers for the most recent hardware. Have you tried installing sp2 and sp3? These carry more recent drivers than SP1 and older vesions. And if there are no drivers for xp, you are stuck with vista.
