Ok, please note if the processor fan is running, because desktop PCs have additional fan. The processor fan MUST be working, because the heat produced by the processor will fry a system in 5 seconds at the higher temperature. It is easy to see when you start your PC with the side panel removed. By the way, if the processor fan is the culprit, it can be easily replaced (I recommend to replace the heatsink, it cost about $15 for a Pentium 4 or Dual Core).

It's shutting down because it's too hot check the fan assembly is secured firmly into it's slot..cos it may be loose.

I have the SAME issue and so far it seems to be an issue with the fan not kicking on.... I turn it on in the morning, as soon as you hear sound the red lights kick on and I shut it off... it takes a few seconds to shut down so stay close to your remote durring this process and as soon as the "red light" kicks in, turn it off, as soon as it's off, turn it back on... I have to go thru this about 30 times now before I can get the picture to stay on, but it eventually kicks in. Hope this helps!

The case fan should start running as soon as you turn on the computer. I would replace the fan with a higher capacity (CFM). If you have a case that can take 2 case fans, I would install the send fan. Also with the case off, check that the CPU cooler fan is functioning. With the quick shut off, I would suspect that the CPU cooler fan is not functioning. I could be impeded by dust. Vacuum and blow out any dust on the motherboard, fans and battery fan while you have the case off.
This should aleviate the shutoff problem due to overheating.
Let me know if this solves the problem.
Please rate this solutution. Thanks.

SONY GRAND WEGA

I have a KDF60XS955. When I power it on, the fan comes on, the standby light flashes green several times, the lamp comes on and the standby light goes to solid green. This lasts for less than 5 seconds then the lamp goes out, followed by ~30 green standby flashes, the lamp coming on with the solid green standby light for about 5 seconds then shuts off the lamp again. I can hear/feel the fan running the enitre time. This cycle continues endlessly. Please help!

Have you tried holding the input and menu buttons on the set both in together for 8 seconds to see if it will blink a 2 digit error code? Try that and let me know what code if any flashes from the Led.
