I need to be able to put + as a prefix for international numbers, how do I do this?

sounds like a virtual US number. some companies sell phone numbers with this prefix for use by international companies. making it possible to dial a us number to reach the company.

it may also be used by private people not from the us to keep in touch with family in the states relatively cheap compared to international calls

You don't need a + symbol to dial international.

1. Step 1: Dial International Call Prefix.
2. Step 2: Dial Country Code.
3. Step 3: Dial City Code (area code)
4. Step 4: Dial Local Number. So let's say you are trying to call a local number in Sao Paulo, Brazil from Miami, Florida, USA. ...

It looks like Google Voice charges a fee per minute for international calls. Here is a link to the page where you can search for a country and it will display the fee per minute:

You need to purchase international minutes if the call is not in the USA.
you can do this by logging on to your account

Once logged in, click on the tab named "International/Prepaid" and enter the telephone number you will be making International calls from and click "Submit". Make sure you enter it into the box associated with the magicJack that you have or will be adding International Prepaid Minutes to. Dial the access code to start making International calls from the phone number you registered.
Please remember that you can only register one additional number per magicJack.

Plus you need to dial the prefix before the number as well for the country ie (+44) 123 456 7890 is dialled as 00441234567890.

+44 is the country code.
(0)8719 is a non-geographical number prefix
156756 is then the phone number.

In the UK you dial the leading 0 of the prefix (area code), it's dropped for incoming international calls.

You don't actually need to dial a plus. The plus notation is often used to write out international numbers, and some telephones do allow for something called plus dialing. To call the UK from the US (which is where I assume you are),you just need to dial the international calling prefix (011), followed by the UK country code (44), and finally the local number you want to reach.

0011 0011 is the international prefix used to dial somewhere outside of Australia. 44 44 is the international code used to dial to United Kingdom. 131 is the local area or city code used to dial to Edinburgh. (Not added because the number entered already seems to include an area code.) 1563830887 01563830887 is the local number you wrote. The national prefix was removed from the number.

the general international call prefix is 00 but that of autralia is different. 0011 is used as it is the international call prefix assifned to australia. the country calling code is 61.so if you want to make a call to australia, you dail 0011+61+assigned area code+ the number. hope this answer your problem
