Question about Dell Latitude D520 - Celeron Intel Celeron M 520 533Mhz Single Core 80GB/1000M... PC Notebook

2 Answers

I have a Dell Latitude 520 and I am trying to lower the resolution a bit to change the display settings for a projector, only the res. settings will only let me select the lowest and highest res. and nothing in between, which is weird. Also this all came about because I am getting a square picture from my projector when I try to run my Powerpoint show. I would like to be able to see the show both on my laptop and the projector screen which I have done on other laptops, but can't figure out how to get a more landscape picture when connected to the projector.

    Hi,
Thanks for replying. The laptop does not show a double monitor in the display properties. It shows a "Plug and Play Monitor on Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family" only
Can you suggest a site to update the drivers, and is that free, or am I just dreaming about the free part?

Does the laptop show a double monitor in the Display Properties? If so, you can configure each one separately. If no, then you need to update the drivers for your video card.

Dell.com have a friendly and FREE web site to download the drivers; just enter your laptop model into the search field, and violá! you are directed to the download page. Once there check for other drivers or updates you may need.

Try lowering the resolution of the laptop to 1024x768 from the display settings (start- > control panel -> screen / display)
Also if in the screen settings you see a grayed out display with a number 2 on it, right click and enable it, see if it helps, also lower its resolution to 1024x768, apply and then go to the advanced page, check the refresh rate make sure its 60.

Some games need 1440x900 resolution to play but when i go to the display settings to change it, its not there just 1360x768, 1600x1200 and lower ones. I need help????

Hi there. If you're able to get 1600x1200 on the monitor, that should suffice--anything equaling or larger than the game's required res is ok...the picture will have a little bit of border on the edges because of the higher resolution but shouldn't be a hinderance at all. Remember this...the higher the resolution, the harder the graphics card has to work to maintain proper movement of the images in the game. Use the exact res if possible. However a close, higher res is fine, too.---Rick

Dell precision laptop, dell projector m2400 wont detect

Hello...the resolution on the laptop is too high...at least, from your description, that's what the problem sounds like. The projector is capable of 1024x768. Make sure the res on the laptop is set at or below that number. To set the res on the laptop, go into control panel and choose the display option...under settings menu, there will be a slider that you can move--when you move this, the computer will ask you if you want to keep this setting--choose yes. Also, make sure you power up the laptop first, then immediately after, power on the projector--this will help stop any syncing problems that might occur.--Hope I helped you!--Rick

On screen resolution issues

Bought a new XGA projector.../

It appears from researching that the native res for the Benq is too low 800x600 so I will never get a good picture even though most of the images I install are at least 10meg originals. Also the new projector will work in a bright room the Benq will not.

I just checked the specs on your Benq PB 6110, which has a native resolution of 800X600 and will simulate 1280X1024. When you connect it to your computer, the computer goes to 800X600, right? That is the resolution of the BenQ. How high a resolution do you want? THe highest I have seen in projectors is 1024X760, which is not that much higher. Projectors seem to lag behind monitors and Plasma/LCD/LED TVs for resolution. They must have a very small market share therefore low developement.

Differing size display when using Dell 3200mp LCD projector

Once your display of the projector is set( all connection to computers via cables is done), then all the display settings remain with the source i.e. the laptop.

You will need to set all your laptops to the correct display properties. This you can do by either going to presentation mode or on Window XP you can simply go on to your desktop and right click > go to properties>go to setting> press display 2 and set the screen resolution as per your projectors resolution and enjoy. ( for information: display1 is the resolution meant for your laptop)

Sanyo Projector==No signal

Hi, Perhaps you can try lowering the screen resolution first of the laptop before plugging in the projector and then the Fn + F8. Thereafter, gradually increase the screen resolution until projector stops displaying. The idea is that your current screen resolution maybe too much for the projector to handle. This of course is assuming that there is no hardware problem with the projector. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
