Protect light Purchased a Punch P600.1bd e11-021752. Received it through the mail, was claimed to have worked just fine. When hooked up went straight to protect. Will not do anything else. What causes protect light to come on? This amp looks brand new.Does not appear, or smell burnt.

Could be shorted output devices or an open trace on the board.

SOURCE: power light vs. protect light mode

If the power light on top of the amp is on, the internal power supply is operating.

It is possible that the amp could damage the speaker if it has blown output transistors. Before you connect a speaker to it, you should measure the DC voltage across each pair of speaker terminals. If the DC voltage is more than a fraction of a volt, the amp needs to be repaired.

The amp requires an external fuse. Download the owner's manual from the rockford site. The correct fuse for the amp will be specified in the manual.

SOURCE: My amp only powers the subwoofer when the radio is on but wont when the cd player is on

The person(s) who hooked up your system made a boo boo. They wired your remote turn on lead to the power antenna lead instead of the amp turn on line (both are blue and easy to mix up). Thus when your radio is on it sends a signal to the amp and the amp turns on, but when you set to CD the signal goes away and your amp shuts down. Easy fix, just re-wire the amp turn on lead and the problem will be fixed.

SOURCE: t1500-1bd burnt mosfet

Fosgate's get very hot.My first amp was a fosgate and I freaked out because it got really really hot. And smelled bad. So I moved it so where it could get more air That should help you out a lot and the smell went away on its own. As for your battery dying. Basically your stressing out your battery and your alternator is having a hard time keeping the battery changed. I'm sure you see your light dim when a low bass note hits. Invest in a cap. This will help save your battery your alternator and should even sound better.

SOURCE: i hooked up a punch

check to see if your ground is bad and all of your wires to the amp are wired correctly, in the worst case, you may just have a bad amp

800a4 stays in protect mode

Generally thats a sign of a shorted output device, either a bipolar transistor or mosfet. Also ground faults can trigger a protect light.

I have a rockford p4004 and the protection light is staying on and am not getting anything out of the amp to my subs. what can i do. i hooked up a different amp to it and it worked fine.

The unit is internally grounded. Something has broken inside and grounding out the power, the amp will need to be serviced or trashed. Try calling Fosgate. They may have a serviceman or "fix it" department

I have a punch p850.4 amp that goes into protect mode as soon as its powered up , have checked and double checked all connections to make sure its all hooked right . even downloaded the pdf for the amp .

I have exactly the same problem, try a different speaker wire from your sub terminal to your amp terminal, if no luck you may have a loose connection on the wires on your sub, due to vibrations etc they can sometimes come loose, but very rare. worth checking though. 1 loose connection can make the amp go into protection mode. If all of these are fine, start from the beginning, ( I have tried this and i think its my speaker wire shorted out) 1st dissconnect all wires from amp. Then connect ground first, then your live. then power up amp, it it works andd not in protect mode your earth and live are fine, then connect your remote, then test, then speaker wire , then test, that way you can rule out bad connections and find any fault.

Memphis PR300.2 Amp protect light on

If it is not turning on your problem is it is not getting power. Check your fuses. The reason an amp goes into protect mode is usually because the subs are not wired up right. Make sure your fuses are good, you have a good ground, and make sure your amp turn on wire didn't come loose when you were putting the deck back in. As for the amp going into protect you probably wired the subs down to too few ohms and the amp you have can't handle it. Try hooking the subs up straight w/o bridgeing them and turn it up to see if it works. If you don't have problems with it then you wired your subs wrong.

Has my router gone bad?

If no power lights come on... it looks bad, but try another power adapter on the router before tossing it... could be that.

NO SQUELCH

I have a Radio Shack Pro 97 Scanner that I received as a present 1-1/2 years ago. It was working just fine and then suddenly there was no squelch or volume. The keys make noise when pushed, but there is no sound for the squelch or volume. The scanner scans the frequencies but does not stop and play. I went on line and found that other people were having the same problems. I went back to the store that the unit was purchased from and received no help what so ever, they said it’ s off warranty and I was out of luck, nice way to do business??. I think that something that cost as much as this should not be junk after a short period of time. I hope you can help me with this problem I do like radio shack, but I can’t afford to buy items that don’t stand up.

Sincerely

Greg Stevens
