Question about Rowenta Power Duo Iron

Open Question

Rowenta DX 6650 leaks. How do I take it apart?

Water leaks from base. I need to take the iron apart to see about repairing the leak. Removing 4 screws did not immediately allow access. What is the trick?

SOURCE: Taking a Rowenta DX1900 Apart

Not sure about your model, but newer irons have the screws hidden under snap-on covers. Look for a small cover that may have a slot where you can insert a small screwdriver and lightly pry. Chances are you'll leave marks. They are not made to take apart so there is also a chance you'll break the internal tabs that snap/hold it together. You may be able to super glue them back. There should be a removable coverplate at, or near each end.

The wire inside the cord is likely torn ant it connects and disconnects as it is moved back and forth. This happened to me too. I just need to find where to get a new cord.

SOURCE: My Rowenta iron will not heat up. The yellow light

Inside the iron is a piece of thermal metal the is supposed to make contact with a small ceramic pin with a metal cap on it. I think this was intended to be a safety device but they fail and the iron will not heat up. The part does not seem to be available so easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing that forces this to make contact.

SOURCE: iron leaks water from the back end of the base

This problem is the way that rowenta seals the water tank. If the iron is disassembled and the seal is properly put on it will not leak,, however this seal is a silicone based product and not just an off the shelf gasket. I have sealed and repaired some using a high temp silicone

SOURCE: Rowenta DM880 Auto shutoff - Shuts off too frequently

This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks.

I iron, model 1306 is leaking water from the cornerback of the base. Can I repair

I can find no reference even by a shopping engine to an "I Iron" and specifically to an I iron 1306. If there is such a brand, you have offered more publicity than they have about it. If that is not the brand, it is best practice to list the brand in a query. Sadly, as I don't know anything about the brand, I can only offer:

Leaking water around base

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .

If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .

If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.

If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.

If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

God bless you

I have a rowenta iron that leaks a lot of water

Here's a solution . . . Do NOT buy ROWENTA! I've had 3 Rowenta irons. All of them have eventually began to dump water out of the base. . . heck, the Titanic didn't leak as much as a Rowenta iron!

Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

I have purchased two Rowenta irons. Both have the problem with water leakage. The entire iron looses all of it's water....both in the stand up position and the sitting down position. This happened after a couple of months for both items. I contacted Rowenta and they never responded. I will never purchase another item from them. Obviously, the irons must be defective. I'm going to contact consumer affairs.
