Will be a hardware fault, such as a faulty fan that has cooked the processor, or some dislodged memory, the memory can be accessed through one of the removable panels on the bottem, ensure it is seted correctly, the other memory is normally under the keyboard

Dell C640 Turn On Problem

Probably an overheating problem. The best thing would be to disassemble your notebook, and clean the heat sink. If you're not experienced with this kind of things, don't do it. You can try to use a vacuum, or take it to a specialist.

I think you are wasting a lot of effort, I know how you feel and sometimes you cannot win.
Junk it for parts.

I do volunteer work for Technical Aid For the Disabled (a charity organisation) and repair/refurbish laptops and computers for disabled people and I hate to see good computers go to waste.

Blinking red light

What laptop brand and model is it? And where is the LED that blinks? Important details! Some laptops have a power light that blinks red while battery charges, then it turns steady green when battery is full. Some laptops have a red LED that lights whenever there is hard drive, CDrom, or floppy activity (read/write). This all depends on your laptop brand/model and where the LED is (side, near floppy/CD, top near screen, or on battery itself... so provide more details for me, please!
