Loose connection problem, could be wire connection or terminal header loose. Or part of it is loosing it grip to hold it still and support.

First of all, try to reconnect LCD cable.
If problem still be, you will need to change LCD matrix.

Dell Inspiron MINI 1012 Laptop Screen 10.1 LED flickers

soldbyajt,

It sounds as though the video card has gone bad in your system. There are a couple of things to try to eliminate the lcd.
If the LCD on the system shows no display or has other problems, here are some basic steps to take:
  1. If the LCD is not displaying any video, connect an external monitor to eliminate a no-POST problem. A good image on the external monitor eliminates a video card problem or a POST problem.
  2. Connect an external monitor when possible for all LCD-related problems to help eliminate a possible software or video card problem.
  3. If the LCD has lines on the screen, check the system during POST as well as system setup to determine if the lines are present in all modes of operation.

If you cannot get any video by connecting an external monitor then your motherboard will need to be replaced. The reason for the motherboard replacement is because your video card is soldered onto the motherboard.

    Thank You,

The screen on my dell inspiron 1545 64 bit windows vista is darker on one side than the other and sometimes flickers and progressively gets darker, could it be a driver? or something that i can fix online...

The CCFL [cold cathode Fluorescent] bulb is dying. Manufacturers use these thin 'tube' style lights at the edges of your display for laptops and LCD monitors & TVs. Don't let it go too long or you will possibly destroy the inverter that provides the power to light the bulb.

I have a dell e1505 laptop you turn it on it flickers to dell for about a 1/2 second then goes virtually black but if you look real close the screen is there.you can still hear it, i hook it to a exteral...

hi there !

-if you switch the computer on and it boots up and you hear the windows sound, this could be a possible video problem or motherboard problem
-run the diags on the LCD, while the computer is off, press and hold "D" then press power button at the same time, if you see the colors red blue green without any problems then it is a motherboard or video card problem
-another method to run the test is while the computer is off; preess and hold Fn then press power button, let the test run; when you see the question were colour bars displayed, press N, if you see the colors red blue and green without any problem then it is a motherboard problem or video card; otherwise it is an LCD problem
-to toggle display on the external monitor press Fn then F8

cheers !

Only have half screen on my Dell Inspiron 1501

What your describing is a failure of the LCD or possibly the inverter cable connection to the LCD. Most likely an LCD replacement will be required.

Screen Dims ... ALOT

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop. You may have to select the video output to display on the external monitor by holding down the blue <FN> key and pressing the blue CRT/LCD (located on one of the <F> keys, like F8,F9, etc..). If the problem occurs on the external monitor with the battery or AC power, then you have a problem with either the video card or motherboard in the laptop. If the problem does not happen using the external monitor then you laptop’s LCD display is going bad.

LCD flashes and flickers, partial display of bootup and then black screen

Try the following:

Sometimes when you press and hold the corners of the LCD area (not on the LCD itself, but on the frame), and see if it gives you a picture (or at least flickers when you do so).

My opinion is that your LCD could need rewiring or replacing.

Screen flicker when typing

What you have to do is reduce your hardware acceleration according to dell. go to Start> control panel> displays(in classic view)> settings> advanced> trouble shooting then just lower the slider a notch or two.
