GE Model 27911 DECT 6.0 Additional Cordless Handset not working

I have a wall mounted GE 27909 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone that works fine. I purchased a remote handset (27911) that needs to be registered to the base unit (27909). Per the instructions, I plugged in the battery to the handset and plugged in the AC adaptor to an outlet and let it charge for over the 14 hour minimum required. The light on the charging cradle shows a charge is being generated. The problem is there is no display on the handset indicating "Not Registered" as the instructions indicate. I have disconnected and reconnected the handset with the same results, no display no matter what buttons I press (even next to the base station #27909). Any help would be greatly appreciated. slott10@wowway.com I bought the base and 2 handsets.  Both the base and one handset set up with no problems.  The other handset won't register.  I used the same method with both.

Please note that if you have a wireless router for you computer in you house, it will definitly interfier with the 27911's registration process. Make sure you shut you wireless router first, before you try to register to the base (27909) unit. That worked for me.

I took the post that mentioned removing the battery, waiting a few minutes and then reinserting it.  It worked.  Thanks to that person.

I have a GE Cordless phone model #27909 dect. 6.0 i can hear people talking to me, but they can not hear me....what is the problem?

that is probably your mouthpiece, it is located on the lower end of your handset and you have to open unit first to have it replaced. you could check that it has contact and nothing is blocking it before replacement.

How can I register my GE 27911 handset?

I also had this problem and then I found a solution from another site.
Just open the handset and remove the battery for about 1 minute.
Reinstall the battery and go through the register procedure again - it will register almost immediately. just keep the handset near the base.

then turn both units on
and replce onto base unit . Good luck

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

GE Model 27911 DECT 6.0 Additional Cordless Handset not working

I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.
