Try holding down the power key to force it to power off. Power it back up again and you should get the Windows Resume Loader with the following options "Continue with resume" and "Delete resume data and continue with startup". I can't remember the exact wording of the options, it may be different but you need to select the later or second option "Delete resume data and continue with startup".

Lenovo y430 computer turns on it goes to Lenovo page goes to resuming Windows then goes black

Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Press the ON/OFF button (to drain any residual voltage).
Re-insert the battery.
Reconnect the AC power.
Turn it on.
Instead of "resuming Windows", it should show the normal Windows startup.

Y compaq pressario v2000 goes from black screen to intermittent normal screen. The black screen is on the computer 80% of the time and then the pics fade in and out

The screen on your laptop goes black after every few seconds.

It resumes after a mouse-click or after a key-press.

Solution

Click on Start --> In search bar, type power options and press Enter.

"Select a power plan" window will be opened.

Click on "Change plan settings" next to "Balanced (recommended)".

In "Turn off the display", select "Never" from the drop-down menu under both the options "On battery" and "Plugged in".

Now click on "Save changes" button.

hope this helps

Do not start up, black screen

Hello,

I'll asume something for this one it might help. Make sure your laptop is completely turned off [No fans turn, screen black, no hard drive light]. When you then press the power button, immediately keep pressing the F8 button on your keyboard. It should then actually display two options after a while :

*Delete restore/resume point and start windows
*Resume restore/resume point

Select 'Delete restore point' and the unit should boot up fine again.

I had a unit that was basically turbo-booting into windows, but the restore point was corrupt and it always seemed it had a 'blank screen' problem.

You can also try to access the BIOS by pressing F2 as soon as the unit starts up to see if you can actually access the BIOS.

If that all doesn't help I suggest reseating RAM.

You may have a bad video card driver
Restart in Safe mode, uninstall all video card drivers, restart normally and re-install video drivers from the net
