Question about GPS

4 Answers

I need to connect a JRC 112/112W GPS Receiver to a new ICOM604 VHS marine radio. What color wires from the JRC would correspond to NMEA OUT (+), NMEA OUT (-), NMEA IN (-), AND NMEA IN (+)? Is a JRC 112 manual available online? Thank you, Garry Nelson garrybnelson@sbcglobal.net Mobile phone: 248-752-8408

I don't see an answer to my question?

I need to know the 4 colors of wires (out of the JRC cable) that hook to the 4 NMEA posts on my ICOM radio. The PDF does not contain that detail. Garry Nelson garrybnelson@sbcglobal.net

I need the specific wire color codes -- not a generic diagram for what a GPS can hook up to.
    For example:
Blue wire hooks to NMEA Out (+)

I don't want another expert. I want a refund. Two answers, from two different people that were not useful at all.

This is going in a better direction, but I have a JRC (Japanese Radio Corporation) unit --not Raytheon, which is what the reference material is that you sent a link.

Are you saying that JRC is made by Raytheon or vice versa, and you guarantee they are the same wiring configuration?

How connect the nav net vx2 to autopilot simrad.what output port and colour cable

Get someone from a marine electronics company to do this for you. If you are unsure of the basics of what you need and you attempt to do this while going in blind, you may ruin your nmea ports on your navnet and autopilot. While I understand that you are trying to save $$$ by doing this, there's more to it than just wiring. There are port setups and nmea sentences to enable etc.

I have a SI-TEX black box receiver and I'd like to connect it to a Garmin GPS chartplotter. The SI-TEX black box receiver instructions at one point say:"If the GPS has a NMEA output (or NMEA REF) connect...

Yes, the NMEA- output (I think you lefy uot the "-" in your questoin), anyway, the NMEA - or NMEA negative or NMEA ref is hooked to battery supply ground.
Dont forget to program the Garmin to look for 48,000 baud data.

JRC 1000 MKII bearing pulse error on receiver screen. Connections to scanner good and scanner turning. How can I determine if the problem is in the receiver? How can I fix it? louonboard

Normally the bearing pulse comes from the bearing pulse generator built inside the motor. Every time the motor turns it sends a pulse down the line showing the radar that it is indeed spinning. There is also a Heading pulse that comes from an electric eye elsewhere in the housing. The other thing could be that the wire carrying the bearing pulse is not getting back to the display. More so than often, it's the motor. I would have the display sent out to be checked on a simulator if there is a marine electronicshop nearby.

My plotter seems not to output NMEA to my DSC radio and auto helm

Your plotter can talk to you Radio and your pilot. It sounds like one of two things. You must go into the system setup menu and turn on the nmea sentances. You will need to turn on RMB, RMC, GGl at least. You can turn on all the sentances if you like it does not matter. If this does not fix, check color of wiring is correct. Remember you have to go from NMEA + out (on plotter) to NMEA + IN on Radio. Then you need NMEA - out(on Plotter) to NMEA - IN on Radio.
You can look at the sentances wirth a multi meter coming out of your plotter. You put meter in DCV and connect across the NMEA out lines. You will see the meter move every second or so as it send a sentance.
