Kenwood KAC-8103D Power Amplifier wont turn on

I got a Kenwood KAC-8103D Power Amplifier i plug everything in but it wont turn on. I set up another amp to the same cables and the amp works fine. But then i try and put the kenwood back on and when i plug the power wire in the power light turns off and then i remove the power wire and the power light comes on. i have checked the fuses and none are burned. Any one know the reason why my amp would be doing this ?

It sounds to me like its burnt.but with some amps the screws that hold it in place have to be screwed into the car chassisfor grounding. be careful not to srewe into hidden wires.

Check your fuse. Also make sure all your wiring and terminals are correct and not loose.

it sounds like the power wire might be grounding out somewhere that you dont know of it could be by the fuse link so I would say put electrical tape on any exposed wire on the fuse link first if that don't work try change the power wire.

AMP

That amplifier is only stable to 2 ohms.
You will only be able to use one Dual 4 ohm Subwoofer wired in parallel (all + to + on amp.... all - to - on amp.
This will yield a 2 ohm mono load.

It is impossible to wire (2) dual 4 ohm voicecoils to achieve a 2 ohm mono load.

If you're set on using both subwoofers - they will not be getting as much power from your amplifier with a 4 ohm load - but it is your only option.

SEE THIS LINK for the wiring diagram.

Kenwood KAC-8103D short?

probably popped a diode in the amplifier circuit. The thumping sound is most likely power feeding back through the circuit, so it will have to be replaced professionally unless you have acess to the proper soldering equipment for IC boards. Hope this helps, even though it is bad news

Transistors

If it's only 2 months old, it should be under warranty. Have you tried to get it repaired under warranty?

Any car audio repair shop should be able to repair it.

If you want to repair it yourself, it's possible but you'd need basic test equipment and soldering/desoldering tools.

The following page shows you the basics for amp repair. Your amp is somewhat different than the one shown but the troubleshooting/repair procedure would be similar.

The speaker may have shorted and caused the output transistors in the amp to fail. This is fairly common. It can be repaired.
