I tried to upload the latest firmware to WA840G 6.14 and it crashe din the middle up the upgrade...Is there anyway of reprogramming the flash other than using the gui..

Hi,
Based on your post/description, I would assume that though you did not complete the upgrade, you were able to restore the WA840G to the original/old firmware. Second, you still wish to upgrade again but using a different method other than web configuration.
Perhaps you can try a telnet session to 192.168.1.1 or the default which is 192.168.40.1 or the IP add you have set it to if you have modified it before. I have successfully tried this on a LinkSys WRT54G & NetGear MR814V2. Might or might not work for you. "?" or help should give you the basic line commands.
But then again, if the system has crashed and the unit is bricked, that is a harder problem and you might be better off replacing the unit.
Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things are or should you need further information.
