Re: WA840G firmware went bad :(
Based on your post/description, I would assume that though you did not complete the upgrade, you were able to restore the WA840G to the original/old firmware. Second, you still wish to upgrade again but using a different method other than web configuration.
Perhaps you can try a telnet session to 192.168.1.1 or the default which is 192.168.40.1 or the IP add you have set it to if you have modified it before. I have successfully tried this on a LinkSys WRT54G & NetGear MR814V2. Might or might not work for you. "?" or help should give you the basic line commands.
But then again, if the system has crashed and the unit is bricked, that is a harder problem and you might be better off replacing the unit.
Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things are or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.

once your click on the link then select model number, after that click on download, now you would be able to see latest firmware on screen(in the same screen you would be able to see,how to upgrade firmware on router)
Upgrade firmware on NETGEAR router. Many a times, it is required that you upgrade the firmware on your NETGEAR for it to function properly and be equipped with the latest updates and feature offered by NETGEAR.
I have listed the specific steps which are required to upgrade firmware on most of the NETGEAR
A. Open the router page using the following way:
1. Connect a computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. 2. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox). 3. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com. 4. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the username and password is case sensitive. In case you have changed the password for router login then you need to use that one).
B. Visit the following link to download the latest firmware.
Type the model make of your NETGEAR router and it will show you the download page for that specific product.
C. Please follow the steps to upload the firmware of the router:
1. Open the router page using the steps as mentioned under step A. 2. Under Maintenance, click router Upgrade. 3. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file. 4. Click Upload. 5. Wait for the router to reboot. 6. Click on 'Logout' (at the bottom of the list) from left menu.
It is recommended that you reset and then reconfigure your router for the firmware to upload properly.
NOTE: Please upgrade the firmware on a computer connected wired to your router. Upgrading firmware on a wireless computer may cause your router to malfunction and can lead your router to be in an unusable state.
These steps will succesfully allow you to upgrade firmware on your NETGEAR router.
1. dowloan latest firmware for router
2.only connect router and computer with cable
3.open router page
4 go to upgrade router option, click on brouse select file then click on upload
5.after uploading router firmware ,reset router then
Assuming you have done the Upgrade correctly do the following:
Clearing the Web Browser Cache After you upgrade, you may need to clear the cache to view the upgraded Web page properly: 1 Open a Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer®. 2 Select Tools\Internet Options. 3 In the Temporary Internet files box, click Delete Files. 4 In the Delete Files dialog box, select the Delete all offline content check box and then click OK. Click OK again
To access the Web-based configuration pages: 1 Open a Web browser. In the URL field, type http://192.168.40.1 (the router’s default IP address) and press Enter. 2 At the Motorola Wireless Broadband Router login window, type your user name in the User name box (if you changed it from the factory default (admin) the last time you upgraded). 3 Type your password in the Password box (if you changed it from the factory default (motorola using all lowercase) the last time you upgraded). Then click OK. The Basic configuration page appears.
I had that problem with Madden 09.
I read on the internet that the older PS2 slimlines freeze
after Madden 06-07.
I bought a used satin silver SCPH 77001, a 2007 model I think,
and no more frezzing. plus this thing plays
all DVDs. not just some of them.
Well if you updated the firmware and your still having issues contact dlink for a possible replacement it sounds like the hardware could be bad or you can try uploading same firmware by crash reseting router and uploading latest firmware again.
Download the TFTP---set up file for BEFSR41 v2 and also download the latest firmware of ur router.
Double click on the TFTP file and connect to the router using the default gateway address (192.168.1.1_ and upload the latest firmware....before that do a hard reset for the router foe one minute.
