Anyone who may find it of some use for other Emerson/Funai/Symphonic tv's...

I stumbled across this on a random day trying once again to figure out the service menu on my Emerson LC320EM8, by basically digging through every funai LCD service manual I could find on funai's german ftp server. As these remotes seem fairly universal to all Emerson/Funai/Symphonic (as well as a host of store brand) tv's......give this a try..

There's a hidden "service" button on the remote located below and in between the locations of the CH +/- and VOL +/- buttons....you have to cut the bezel on the remote to reveal it...
How to initialize the LCD television:
1. Turn the power on.
2. To enter the service mode, press the service
button on the service remote control unit. (Refer to
page 5-1.)
- To cancel the service mode, Press POWER button on
the remote control unit.
3. Press INFO button on the service remote control
unit to initialize the LCD television.
4. "INITIALIZED" will appear in the upper right of the
screen. "INITIALIZED" color will change to green
from red when initializing is complete.

Here is the manual for your Tv:

http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/pdf/om/EWT19S3.pdf

According to the manul there is no way to adjust veritcal or horizontal size on your television.

Hope this helps :)

If this is an Emerson CRT , the classig big tube TV, then you do not use a menu to adjust vertical and horizonta, but you adjust variable resistors on the main PCB using a small screwdriver.

Here is the procedure, and below service manual, location of components may be slightly different on your model, but procedure is the same.:

Here the service manual, and below the procedure.

Hi,

To enter the service mode you need to follow the following sequence of buttons on the remote. Switch the receiver off, press display, 5, volume up, and power within one second of another. Set should come on with a menu display. Buttons 1 & 3 select register to be modified, buttons 2 & 4 select the data value. To write changes to the registers, press 8 and enter button and power off.

I would also like to suggest, that you write down the original data values before changing so you can return to them if necessary.

Thanks

How do you adjust vertical height on sony bravia tv

Check the aspect ratio set. If it is set to wide, there will be black bars at top and bottom of the screen. Go to its picture setting menu, and adjust the settings. If it do not help you, enter its service mode to adjust the picture height. Although this is a semi-skilled work, if you have patience and concentration, you can do this adjustment. There is no need to open the TV. If you wish to get more details about how to enter service mode, and adjust the data values there, check the site linked here. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

CF3273A Toshiba Vertical height and linearity problem, looking for adjustments

I'm not real sure what year this set is. Most sets 5 years or newer have service menu adjustments. Unless someone went in and adjusted it to get it out of adjustment, adjusting is not going to do much good. I would be looking for bad capacitors in the vertical circuit or possibly the vertical output IC. These IC's tend to run pretty hot anyway so they are usually the problem along with leaky caps.

PVQ-2510 service menu

If you fix the vertical cirrcuit correctly, there is no need to go into service menu as your vertical should go back to normal. Re-check your work. I remember one cap on this set that gets overlooked all the time so you may want to check it. It is cap C413 - ceramic cap and sometimes it shorts causing a vertical shrinking as you described. Good luck.
