XOD1736 will not display video from DVD player or from ipod. I receive a black screen with a message that says, "Stop watch video player"? How do I fix it? Is this because I don't have the braking wire attached?

To watch dvd video on xod1730 like what adamdog said you need to attach/mix the pink/braking wire to black/ground wire and if you want to disable the pink/braking wire all you have to do is not to attach it to black wire or any wire and cover pink end wire with electric tape.

Pink wire on XOD1730 is parking brake wire. Just when you wire up attach the PINK wire to your BLACK (ground) wire and will watch videos when driving down the road

It depends on the brand (i have no specs for yours...). There is usually a eire which must be attached to the parking brake wire so that you cannot watch videos while the car is in motion (for safety). Look in the wring section of the manual to determine which wire it is on your unit and then we can help you figure out where you need to attach it.

The monitor is faulty, this is confirmed when you connected to several laptops.
The fault could be a faulty inverter board which supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp for the back lighting. Have a close look at the monitor at a sharp angle, if you see a faint Windows image then it is definitely a back light fault.

If you see something coming from your PC on your TV, you're almost there!

When you hook up a monitor to your laptop, there's two ways it can work. It can show the same image on both displays, or can "Extend" the desktop on to both screens. In the extend mode, you can have different things on each screen.

Here's what you do to see which mode its in:
- On an empty spot on the desktop, right-click.
- In the menu that comes up, choose Display Properties, or Screen resolution.
- This will bring up the Display properties.

Here's where you need to look to get it configured properly.

You most likely will see two boxes in one area. One will have a number one, the other a number two. If number two is one the right of number one, this means that your display is being extended to the right of the number one monitor. You can verify this by moving your mouse PAST the right edge of the screen. When it goes past, it should show up on the other screen.

Sony PFM-42B1 with black bar in 720p

yes, stop using a plasma TV as a computer monitor. Using the TV this way is an invitation to phosphur burn which these are very prone to. The issue you describe is due to the limitations of the TVs scaler circuit to properly center the image in 720P.

I had the same problem same model. The image was off center to the right and it couldn't be fixed by the auto-image adjust or the manual adjust.

My solution was really simple, I moved a video player (RealPlayer) onto the monitor and maximized the screen, then pressed auto-adjust once. It worked.

"Red means your set is heading towards being dead" is the general rule I've always followed. Red means there is some serious internal issues. There is one thing that might mean its not serious. If you have component hooked up, check the cables to make sure its hooked up properly with the correct colors on the correct color inputs. that can make a huge difference. If you have them incorrectly hooked up it can turn the image all red on your screen. Otherwise, it appears your set is headed towards needing some service. This is not something you can just fix on your own. Is your product still under the manufacturer's warranty or an ext. warranty? Good luck. keep us posted!
