Hi, My dad passed on his Old laptop for my 7yr old to use for homework. I would like to restore to factory settings and can not. I have tried the thinkpad button as well as f11 to no avail. System

the system is not design to return to its orig.form or program ,unless you you format it using the format they used.you can used a formatted hardisk to replaced the orig.disk .or try the latest operating system that fits the requirement of your laptop.

How to reformat my samsung laptop?

Boot up with the Windows installation CD start and follow the instructions to install Windows.
Next Delete the existing Windows partition.
Next Create a new partition.
Next format this new partition - Format the partition in NTFS not a quick format. This will prepare the Windows for a clean install.
You can quit after formatting if you do not want to continue installing Windows.

My laptop is countinuously on off

The reason behind the continuous ON or OFF might be the Operating system (OS) problem or it might be affected with any virus. Please check both and format the system and try again.
Thanks

How to format r51

You can use your Windows installation CD to format the hard drive and install Windows again.
Boot up the ThinkPad with the Windows installation, follow the instructions to delete the existing partition, then create a new partition, then format the hard drive - do a full format, NOT a quick format.
You can then continue to complete the Windows installation.

I am installing os windows xp sp2 19 minutes left power shut off 3 times , when power on windows start up to mouse arrow pop up, what shall I to continue installation acer laptop?

The computer will continue to reinstall windows. It will say restarting installation, simply continue. If it stops again make sure you are using a good copy of OS CD and not a pirated one. Do a full format before attempting to install one.

Format

Hi

two options

  1. The original restore dvd / cd can be used to format and restore the computer to the original state it came on.
  2. Use the windows installation cd, format the hard drive during the setup and then continue with installing windows, at the end you will need the device drivers and those are available at http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html

I am trying to format my laptop and its letting me do that but when it shuts down after formating to install windows it just boot the cd up again to formating. any idea why ?

After you're done installing the windows components from the setup CD your computer will restart , then while its restarting it will ask you again to Press any key to Boot from CD so in order for it to continue the installation of the operating system dont press any key, just let it load by itself then that should continue now with the operating system setup..

Hope that helps...............
