PyroMan6x9x9 that's the stupidest solution I have ever heard, and it doesnt help at all... I have the same problem and want to Find Out How To Fix It - And you say " if it can read the unit it will show up as a removable disc, usually drive F" - DIR! - The problem is that it doesn't register at all. Mine shows power on the MuVo display screen when plugged into a usb drive, but nothing happens. Works fine on other PC's. Will come back and post when I work it out..

Reboot with no other USB devices connected. It should work fine, try that and let me know.

Plug unit in and open my computer, if it can read the unit it will show up as a removable disc, usually drive F:, copy and paste or click and drag music files into this drive to load your player. Good Luck Hope this helps.

Hi my Muvo TX FM 1g is dead. my comp. know it as a drive but i can't see anything and i can' t format it on windows and DOS. when I format it on DOS, this message come "error in IOCTL call " how can I fix...

Check to see if it is on your hardware by trying to Add it as new hardware. Even if it is there, it sounds as if your driver has died and the computer will assign a new driver, then you should be back in business.

Creative MUVO

You could try reinstalling the Creative Mass Storage Driver 1.07.00.250 to get your computer to recognize it again.

If it is also acting funny as a player, try installing the latest firmware. The last firmware release was in March 2007. If you haven't updated the player's firmware since then, try downloading it and installing Creative MuVo TX FM Firmware 1.24.02.

Of course, you'll have to get it to talk to your computer before you can update the firmware.

If you can't get your computer to even recognize the player anymore, you could try reinstalling the Creative Mass Storage Driver 1.07.00.250.

First of all, though, you should try changing the batteries, just to make sure that's not the problem. Sometimes the solution is a simple one! :)

Creative MuVo TX FM will not turn on

I had the same sudden power-off on a MuVo TX that I have had for 2 years now. I also had problems upgrading it, I got the latest firmware updater tool from here: http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP®ion=3&Product_Name=MuVo+TX&Product_ID=9672&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=31&y=7 ...but the first attempt to upgrade left me with a dead player. Grrr. However, I managed to recover it.. I rebooted my laptop.. and used 7zip to unpack the creative upgrade tool to a folder. I then plugged in the MuVo (while holding the power button? can't remember) and got the windoze New Hardware wizard. Selected 'Manual install' then selected 'from a disk/folder', browsed to where I had unpacked the driver, hit next and allowed the wizard plenty of time to work it all out. That seemed to get the player detected as an empty disk device again. Then I was able to run the installer (double clicked on the downloaded .exe) and select a full upgrade, and that worked. (when I was doing this, the tool claimed my player had firmware version 0.00 installed on it !?! weird.). So it may be possible to recover even a seemingly dead player. I have not verified that the power-off issue is fully resolved, I only did this 10 minutes ago and it´s an intermittent problem. But so far, it seems to work. Hope this gives some clues. Best of luck, EasyTarget.
