Re: video settings

There really is no generic "Optimum Settings"... It basically comes down to what looks good to YOU. If you really want to get it as close to the original source recording as possible, get a movie like "Fantasia 2000" that has the THX video optimizer. The disc has a series of tests and procedures to help you configure the video settings for the most accurate picture.

Set up indoor antenna

Plug antenna cable directly into antenna input on tv. Place antenna where you believe you will get a signal (don't know where you live but you can look up site map for optimum direction). Go into tv menu set tv to air and auto scan air channels. Your set will receive and memorize available channels. In your sets menu you should have a strength meter. You can use this to tune in the strongest possible signal. You may have to go back and rescan the channels because if you improve the antennas position you might pick up more channels and they won't just come in automatically. Once you've scanned and received maximum number of channels there will be no need to rescan again. If you do you run the risk of losing some channels and only a rescan under optimum conditions with regards to antenna position and environmental conditions will gain those back. Keep in mind some fringe channels may come and go. Hope this helps.

What are the best color settings for this TV?

Since individual's eyes have different properties, and people vary in taste, there really isn't what you could call a "best" setting. These units are preset when new, and one can adjust them to suit one's taste. The best way to find the optimum setting for you, is to read the manual, and go into the menu and play around with the settings, and see what effects you like (more hue, color, etc.).
Once you set the tv, it will retain the settings. Also, what you will find, occasionally, is that some movies or shows will be "off" a bit for your taste, so it's a good thing to be able to quickly adjust the settings to your taste. The menu's easy to get to (the "menu" button), and use the arrows to navigate, the center button selecting the new setting. Since the advent of cable and HDMI inputs, the "input" menu might say "TV" for your vcr, when it's HDMI, and aux will usually be a dvd, with many other HDMI and other devices.
It's all about what you like, and to familiarize yourself with the settings, will allow you get the optimum enjoyment from a unit like this.
If you have any questions about individual settings, refer to your manual for details.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

I am just looking for the best custom settings for my 42" Panasonic TC-P42C2 Flat Screen TV. Is there already a list of custom specs out there?

There is not a listing - because every set will be different.

You need a calibration DVD to get the optimum settings.

Optimum settings for 32LG3000

I cannot give much of a solution based on the amount of detail you have given, but I will try.

Generally speaking most TV factory settings are set too high through the brightness and contrast controls, and this is probably the problem you're describing. I advise adjusting the brightness lower, and the contrast slightly higher.

Try watching a DVD and pausing a particular scene which has lots of dark gray's and white's and then try to figure out the optimum setting.

Setting up sharp 46

Try to isolate the problem.

Try plugging in another source such as a DVD, is there audio? If yes, problem may be with the optimum box. If no, most likely a problem with the TV.

Also, if you are using HDMI with the HDTV box, make sure the box is set to output audio through HDMI.
