    Hi Kevin,

I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work. After I rebooted, I tried the CD, but still, didn't show. I checked the disks properties and tried to replace the driver, but the computer told me that it couldn't find a better driver.

    Thank you,

- please the check on the Nero settings > Tools > Check recorder / Choose recorder
- set it to your DVD rom drive
- When Burning please verify your hard drive if it has ample space to accommodate the cache file for your recording or burning.
- you can also try to check integrity of the hard drive cables that connects it from the motherboard to the DVD rom. You can try to use another cable to test the integrity.

Hope this helps.

This sounds like a common issue. Microsoft has two options for fixing this. There is a link, at the bottom, to there response that allows for a manual fix or an Automated fix.

Take a moment to look over the site, I am pretty confident that this could help you out. I would suggest trying to Automated first, and then rebooting. If you are still having trouble, it may be required to do this manually following the instructions from the site.

Are you sure this is a DVD writer, if not then it will not see a DVD write disk.
What does it say on the tray....DVDR/W.

If yes it is ....
Right-click My Computer then select Properties
Select the Hardware tab
Click the Device Manager button
(Alternative 1: Start -> Run -> devmgmt.msc -> OK)

Find the DVD drive on the right hand side window, right click uninstall and reboot the computer.
once rebooted, try again that should fix the issue. If not replace the dvd drive.

Kindly rate
Thanks
Kevin

    Do the following steps...

Go to the bios screen and check the drive is mentioned there or not. if not replace the drive.

If yes reinstall the chipset driver, reboot the computer.

Uninstall the Nero and reinstall back (try safe mode if required)
You don't need Nero to burn anyway just drag and drop.

Still there is issue .... repair or reinstall the OS (eg XP, Vista)

    Let me know......

I have a Samsung 600 watt DVD Audio 5 DVD changer model number HTDS 610 it will not read the DVDs how do I get it to work

The system should work with CD DVD audio and video. Both, bought and burned ROM disks. Don't try to play Blue ray disks.
Firs you should try to plat a CD. Please use a bought one not a self burned, because from those you can't be sure the music is burned as it should. If the CD works, also put in a bought DVD.
If non works, your player is defect. I don't think you have the skills nor the equipment to see what is wrong and you can't solve any problem inside. But if the bought disks work, check the format on the other disks. They should be like the manual describes.
A link to the manual is here:

I don't know how to download cd's and dvd's on dell EL-1210-09

What do you mean download cd's and dvd's? You don't download them, you simply put them in the drive and play them. If you purchased a music cd or a movie dvd that you want to play or watch, then just put it in the drive. The system will recognize it and automatically open Windows Media Player for you to play it or you can open it yourself if autoplay is not active.

Exactly what is it that you are trying to do?

If you are talking about putting a blank cd or dvd into the drive to copy music or a movie to it, that's another story and will take a while to explain. You will basically need to make sure your CD/DvD drive can burn CD's or Dvd's. Then you will need some type of burning software (later versions of Window Media Player will burn).

Click Start/My Computer and look at your devices. if your DvD/CD Drive is listed look for RW which means rewritable (it can burn or copy). If it say DVDrw it can read and write dvd's. If it says CDrw it can read and write cd's. You can also look on the drive door on the computer where you would place the cd or dvd. If it says Rewritable CDrw (it can write cd's) or DvDrw (it can write dvd's). If it says ROM (read only media), that means it can Read Only and not write.

If the drive is rewritable then the software such as Media Player will allow you to go find what you want to put on the cd or dvd. You have two ways of putting things in the software to burn or write. You can copy and paste, or you can drag and drop.

A couple of suggestions.
1) Download HP Support Assistant to check for updates on your machine
2) I assume you are using Windows Media Player. Try another free program like VLC. Its handy to have 2 installed so you can toggle between the 2 if one is having problems.

My cd writer is not working can nort burn the disk what should i do i have a dell d800

Your cdrom drive can read a data disc or play cd audio? Check if its CDR/CDRW not DVDR/DVDRW, buy a disk cleaner and play it on your cd/dvd drive. After that try to burn again.

when you try to save or burn any data to disk, you should use burning programs just like nero or any other burning program. at the time when you click the button burn, it always ask you to insert disk such as CD/DVD +R or RW

cd-r80 are for music. Your best option is to buy a program like nero. I assume you are just dragging and dropping files to burn them right now. dvd's are more meant for backing up data or making movies because they hold a lot more data then a cd. Are you able to burn disc's at all? Just like all things involved with computers it can get complicated real quick.I hope this helps a little and if you have more questions let me know
Thanks,

Why my [sony cd rw dvd rom] will not detect a blank dvd disk

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

Because your Configuration is :
Read : CD / DVD
Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.

CDs means totally nothing. sorry....
what CD? , a CD-R? CD-RW, or a store bought CDDA disk
all 3 are different. (or DVD? of vast types too...)
my guess you meant CD-R. (CD record-able)
TouchSmart IQ770 PC Desktop? 2007 carbon date?

what OS, XP, VISTA or W7?

My guess its bad media or bad CD drive.
only way to prove that is use new CD-R burned on good system slow.
say using the great free utility called, imgburn.

first try a real disk, from a store, from the Music section
called CD-DA disk, play it , if it plays the CD drive might be ok.
then try what I call rubber disks, recordable. CD-R
using pro grade disk burned correctly.
buying the cheapest media can be a nightmare. here.

tell HP your OS
the as an example (i guessed OS, means operating system)
install this up date, called HP HP Personal and Pocket Media Drive Driver Update

here.
