My Acer Aspire One D255-2256 netbook is having trouble connecting to the internet.

Start-Programs-Accessories-Command Prompt. Command prompt will open. Looks like a black screen. Type ipconfig then hit the enter key.
5th line down, you'll see something like this and so on.
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . .192.168.0.???
Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . . .
Default Gateway . . . . . . . .
These ip addresses may be different depending on what router or modem you're using. But if you're connected to the modem/router, you should get an ip address(IPv4 Address) and a default gateway that are the same except for the last set of numbers.See question marks above. If it's not the same then you are not connected to the router/modem. Check your wireless connection to see if it's on. Make sure you are connecting to your network. Make sure wireless signal is being transmitted from router.
See if you can hit the router if you have connectivity. Open your IE or Firefox and type only the IP address, meaning remove the http://www. Not needed. The IP address is the Default Gateway thst was listed in the Command Prompt. If you can hit the router/modem, then make sure that there is connectivity to the host. If you're DSL, you'll be using PPOE which is Username and Passwrd. Make sure you are connected by clicking connect under connection summary. If cable modem, make sure that the lights are on showing connectivity. Here's a starting point. I now need more info. If this doesn't help, tell me what you did find out and we'll go from there.

Acer aspire 9410, cannot connect to the internet using dial-up

You have two different devices here. A modem and a wireless network adapter. Two totally different devices. It sounds like the modem quit working but the wireless network adapter still functions. I'm assuming that the modem is built it. If you absolutely have to have it you could buy a PCMCIA modem if your laptop has a PCMCIA slot to plug it into. You could also have a corrupted modem driver.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
Good Luck
