Samsung HLP5063W-Picture Dropping Out Using HDMI

I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN X-BOX 360 ELITE AND WAS THEREFORE ABLE TO TRY MY TELEVISION AT 1080i FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH HDMI. THE GAME PICTURE RANDOMLY DROPS OUT AND BACK ON, SOMETIMES CAUSING A SEARCHING FOR SIGNAL ERROR ON THE SCREEN. THE GAME WORKS FINE THROUGH COMPONANT VIDEO CONNECTIONS. SOUND CONTINUES NORMALLY THROUGHOUT PROBLEMS.(I HAVE BEEN USING THE TV ALL ALONG WITH SATTELITE ON DVI AT 720p WITH NO ISSUES) IS THERE ANY KNOWN ISSUES WITH THESE TV'S? COMMENTS FROM X-BOX CUSTOMERS POINT TO SAMSUNG TV ISSUES. SAMSUNG DENIED THIS.

57H83 57 in. Rear Projection HDTV Television: I have a Toshiba 57H83 and recently purchased the ...

I would suggest to leave your directtv hd/dvr box connected the way It is.
The HD Colorstream 1input on your TV should work just fine.
This TV does not have an HDMI input but you can buy an adapter and connect to DVI/HDCP IN and that might be able to get 1080i video resolution on your TV.

HDMI XBOX360 Elite -"No Signal"

The connection order can be a key issue as to whether or not the HDMI signals will pass through the system. For best results the receiver should be turned on first, then the source device(s) and then the display. The reason for this has to do with getting the equipment to handshake properly for the HDCP protocol.

If HDMI video will not pass through your receiver, you may with to just connect the xbox using the component cables. Since component will pass through 720p and your TV is 1080i you should expect the same qualtiy and a more crisp picture.

My new Samsung LE32R88BD was showing a pixellated picture on movement, but it filled the entire screen. Since switching my Virgin box through HDMI, the picture is less pixellated but I cant get the picture...

I did some reading on the net, try to "calibrate the screen". Try set the input to 1080i, then run the thx optimiser to give you a starting point, then try a bluray with a bright image.

Keep replaying the same chapter and try raising and lowering different settings. you may find that your brightness is set way too high and after dropping it from 90 to 29, you may find that detail will have crept into the image. Try giving the colours a boost as well.

The detail in HD is very subtle, and having a properly calibrated screen will make all the difference. So to answer your question: set your input to 1080i, make sure your HDMI is outputing RGB and start tweaking that screen!

Hitachi 53SDX89BA

I also have a Hitachi 53SDX89BA and I bought it with the same assumption as you: that it's HD ready. The specs in the manual states the following: "Full 1080i HDTV Capatable with Set-Top Box". I beleive this means that it does not include an HD tuner, but that it is capable of handling up to 1080i resolution. Normal (non-HD) resolution on this TV is 480i.

So here's my problem: Until recently, I wasn't using the HD settings on this TV because I don't have a set top box, nor do I subscribe to any HD content from my cable provider. However, I just purchased an XBox 360 along with an XBox 360 HD-DVD player (it's an XBox peripheral that works with the game console). The Xbox asks you to choose the resolution output (480i, 720i or 1080i) to match your TV's HD capabilities. When I select 1080i output and change my TV's settings to receive an HD signal, the picture quality is amazing. However, the video signal seems to get lost ocassionally (i.e. TV picture gets scrambled) but then it comes right back. This does not happen when I select a 480i output on the Xbox...but of course, the picture isn't as crisp and clear as a 1080i picture.

I don't know if this is a problem with the TV or with the Xbox. Has anybody else had this problem??
